THE LIEBSTER AWARD

I am just thrilled to accept my nomination from Jemma at Jemma At Home for the Liebster award. This award is to honor and encourage upcoming bloggers who have less that 200 followers. Liebster is a German word that means sweetest, kindest, nicest, pleasant, welcoming, enduring, valued and lovely.
I used this list when I was looking at blogs that I would like to nominate. I will list my nominations at the end of my post.

First, here are the rules. If you want to accept the Liebster Award, you just work your way through the rules and questions and post your nominations! Of course, there are pros and cons about accepting awards. If you wish not to accept my nomination, I will understand and still enjoy your blog!

RULES:

1- Post 11 random facts about yourself
2-Answer the 11 questions that the tagger has set up for you. Then create your own 11 questions for your chosen bloggers
3-Choose 11 new bloggers with less than 200 followers to pass on the Liebster Award to and link them to your post
4-Make sure you visit each blog and let them know about your nomination
(It is helpful to offer to answer any questions they may have)
5-No tag backs

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT MYSELF:

1.  I absolutely love fall!
2.  I am scared to death of snakes
3.  Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate
4.  Oh, to be tall
5.  I would love to have curly hair
6.  I wish I had the patience to be a fiber conservator
7.  I love to iron
8.  I have a respectful fear of water-I can't swim
9.  The fresh raspberry season is NEVER long enough
10. A European tour...sigh,long,want, dream
11. I want to learn the art of hand quilting

JEMMA'S QUESTIONS and MY ANSWERS:

1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SMELL?
I have to go with lavender! I find it really calming and it brings back all kinds of wonderful
memories. I plant more lavender every year in my garden. Love lavender soap. I always
laugh because my daughter Gina says I overdosed her on it when she was little!

2. IF YOU COULD INVITE ANYONE TO LUNCH, WHO WOULD IT BE?
In dreamland, it would be the Queen of England. How fun would that be to chat with her about her
long career, her family, the monarchy and just all the questions about her relatives!
In real life, it would be my dearest friend LaVonne who lives in Montana. I haven't seen her for
almost a year now and I am missing her!

3. LIVE PLANTS OR SILK?
I'm quite good with live plants in my garden, but I am a failure with inside plants. I just don't get the
sun and water thing right. I love silk flowers and plants in the house. Don't you just love that you can
bend their little stems and adjust them just so? I guess maybe I'm a farmer and not a florist!

4. HEELS OR FLATS?
I'm certainly short enough for heels, but I am not graceful. I stopped wearing heels when I feel down
a flight of stairs with my first born in my arms. We were both just fine, but that was it for me!

5. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A YARD OF BURLAP?
I know burlap is in again, as I've seen it at the craft stores in all forms. I would probably sew little
sacks or bags and fill them with treats for my friends in fall. I'd tie them up with bright fall ribbons.

6. WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST TAKE AWAY FROM BLOGGING?
I would say my favorite thing about blogging that has also been quite a surprise to me, is all the
friends I have made-and continue to make. It's fun to connect or just click with certain people via
blogging. Blogging takes me to other parts of the USA and the world and has just expanded my
world in so many ways. I cannot imagine ever being bored when you are a blogger. I have been
blessed with support when I am down and blessed with friends to share JOY and happiness when
it comes my way. I'm sure most bloggers would agree with me on this one.

7. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CITY?
Victoria BC Canada! Jim and I went there on our honeymoon and have returned for many special
anniversaries and just visits. It is magical to me. When I just close my eyes, I am flooded with the
the dearest of memories...The Empress, tea time, ferry boat rides, dinners, walks along the harbor,
the museums, antiquing, sunshine, Burtchart Gardens, flowers and summer! How have 40 years
slipped away so quickly? We are hoping for a visit on our 40th this August.

8. FAVORITE PAINT COLOR FOR YOUR KITCHEN
I have never had painted walls in my kitchen! We have lived here for 36 years and I have always had
wallpaper on the walls. It's a tiny kitchen and I love wallpaper. I did have blue tones and now I have
browns with a coordinating tea time boarder running through the center.

9. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH TWO PIECES OF UNCLAIMED WOOD?
I would probably make something for my garden in the summer...a planter or use it as decoration. If I
found it in the winter and it was cold outside, I might just throw it in my woodstove!

10. MILD OR SPICY FOOD?
I can't handle food that is too spicy. I do like Thai and Mexican but it can't be too hot. I do enjoy
seasoning and flavor, so I wouldn't say I really like mild food either.

11. COOL TONES OR WARM?
I wear the cool tones much better with my pale coloring and most of my house is decorated in cool
tones but I do love those warm tones especially in the fall!

MY 11 QUESTIONS FOR THE NEXT BLOGGER NOMINATIONS:

1. A GOOD BOOK OR A GOOD MOVIE?
2. DO YOU LIKE TO STAY IN A B&B OR A HOTEL?
3. BRIGHTS OR PASTELS?
4.WILL YOU BE PLANTING A VEGGIE GARDEN OR A FLOWER GARDEN?
5. COFFEE OR TEA?
6. WHAT KIND OF COOKING CLASS WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE FOR FUN?
7. WHAT'S YOUR PLEASURE...VICTORIAN, PRIMITIVE, MID CENTURY OR
    CONTEMPORARY?
8. DO YOU ENJOY A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY OR A DAY IN THE CITY?
9. DO YOU EVER SHOP AT THRIFT STORES?
10. WHEN AND WHERE WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WENT ON A PICNIC?
11. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF SOMEONE GAVE YOU A FRUITCAKE AT
