Our Trip to Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island

When Jimmy asked me what I wanted for my birthday earlier in December, I quickly answered....a trip to Poulsbo and Bainsbridge Island to see our friends and to do some Christmas shopping. We usually go up several times a year, but with the baby this year, we hadn't made it up at all! Before the year slips by, I wanted to post pictures of our trip as it was so wonderful. The first night, we did go to visit Linda Fox and her lovely home. She had tea and cookies and it was just such a sweet evening. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures.

This is my dear friend Angie...in front of her most wonderful and welcoming home on Bainbridge Island. The farm house is a family home with lots of history. It's one of those places that you never want to leave...a combination of the setting and the lovely family that lives there!

Angie has a large garden in the summer and here are her sheep! She has chickens too and fruit trees. It''s so fun to sit on her patio in the summer.

Her advent wreath...in true Tasha Tudor style. Yes, she makes her own beeswax candles and I received a pair as a gift! I love beeswax candles.

This is a very cool old radio that works. Angie is tuning it so I could hear it. Just so fun.

Angie is a marvelous cook and she always spoils us with a fine dinner. Her kids are delightful. John has become quite the fisherman this year, so Jimmy and him had fun chatting about that. Elizabeth is just a sweetie and so helpful to her mother in the kitchen.

Ralph and Jimmy always have fun talking about vintage stuff. Ralph is one lucky man to have such a nice family. Thanks to the whole family for making our visit perfect. You are a great family.

When we travel north in December, we have to visit the CHRISTMAS HOUSE. Lots of fun vintage items and Christmas goodies. Bob, your fudge is the best!

I really liked this twiggy wreath with fresh greens. A bit different and charming.

Jimmy was checking out a little out building for more treasures.

We scooted out to Port Gamble for shopping, the tree lighting and we had tickets for the play! Lots of afternoon activities.

They have a darling little tea shop and we actually had dinner after the tree lighting. It's a fun place to visit and yes....yummy tuffles.

It was starting to get dark....

This is the theater building and you can see the tree after the lighting. So pretty and a good turn out.
We had dinner and then it was time for the play. Local theater, well done and very Christmasy. We sure had a fun filled and very full day!

After a good night's sleep, here Jimmy is sitting outside in Poulsbo. He just loves the town and being by the water.

Love the boats, even when it's overcast.

After finishing up our shopping, it was time to head home. My good friend Clarice and her family were so kind to have us over for dinner before we traveled south. Clarice has been redoing her kitchen with the help of her sweet hubby. She is soooo happy in her kitchen and it is really neat.

This is her new stove and her husband did all the tile work. It is beautiful.

The expert is giving Jimmy instructions on buying good knives and keeping them sharp. She is the pro!

David and Auberne' sharing some hunting stories with Jimmy. He is quite the hunter! He sure loves his girls. It's a treat to watch the four of them all together. Another great family. Thanks for dinner and for opening your home to us once again. Dinner was great and the company was even better!

Every year, Clarice and her daughters pick a different Christmas theme and decorate a small tree.
It was a Russian theme this year.

Every year, they set up their Christmas village. They have the most perfect place for it. I just love looking at it.

It was a magical trip. I had so much fun with my friends! Thanks for the memories my Tasha friends!
I hope to see you soon.

A Fun Stop on the Way Home!

We said good bye to our family in Seattle yesterday and headed for home. We had a wonderful time in Seattle but it was nice to go back home. As Dorothy said in the WIZARD OF OZ...."There's no place like home". There's a wonderful antique mall in Centrailia WA that we always enjoy. There's a display window that I look for and I was delighted this time to find a Christmas dolly scene. Nothing is for sale and I'm not sure who is responsible for this great window.

Lots of little china heads  and other goodies to delight...eye candy for sure.

Christmas trees, toys, more dolls, Santas and other Christmas goodies.

Another little miss in her red dress all ready for Christmas along with toys and other wrappings.

I found another Mary Englebreit cup and saucer that I will be sharing later and a great book called
MAKING HOME HAPPY.

I'm afraid I was in great need of a DO NOTHING DAY today. Etsy orders are waiting for tomorrow and lots of wash from our trip. It was good to have a day of rest today.

Christmas Continues In Seattle

Yesterday, Dec 26th, was an interesting morning at the Howk's home! They woke up to an elf proclamation taped on the doors and around the house! It seems the elves want their own holiday-ELF DAY! They hid presents for all around the house. Jimmy and Linda were at their hotel. Uncle Eric thought he heard something in the night!
Miss Ava went on the hunt and found them all. I guess a few were pretty hard to discover.
Those elves want Elf Day every year! Anytime between Dec 26th and Jan
6th.

December 23rd....Early Christmas and A Very Special Gift!

Jimmy and I finished up the last of our errands and some of our Christmas deliveries today. As we are going to Seattle in the morning to be with our daughters this Christmas, we decided to have our Christmas tonight. I suggested that we have our little Christmas party in my cottage. We are into new traditions this year, so this was fun for us.

The little lady in the photo is a new dolly this year. She is cloth and I just love her. She fits right in.

Yes, it is officially winter now. It was wet, wet, wet today but the temperatures were on the warm side.

I did put a little tree up and some colored lights...in Mary Engelbreit fashion. I'll probably add a bit more next year.  I'm not sure if you can see the rain on the window, but it really poured today.

My friend Peggy made this little LINDA LOU sign for my room.

I thought we needed a bit of a snack for our new tradition...opening our presents in the cottage with goodies and Christmas carols. Of course, we needed some eggnog.

Jimmy is in a festive mood!

One of my cute little Christmas gifts!

My Jimmy surprised me with such a wonderful gift. He gave me two beautiful diamonds to add to my bracelet. Since we were blessed with two grandchildren this year, he gave me these! The Ava diamond and the Otto diamond. I was just shocked! They are beautiful, but represent something even more precious. Thank you my Jim...what a lovely gift to end this great year.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! It just all goes so quickly. Merry Christmas my dear blogger friends.

December 22

Today we light the last candle of the Advent wreath...the PEACE candle. The wait is almost over and Christmas will soon be here.

Jim and I were able to go to church this morning. It was such a nice service and pastor gave a great sermon. He spoke of how we just take Christmas for granted as we know the story and have heard it so many times. He challenged us to really think about the birth of that tiny baby. I loved the reminder that the lowly shepherds were the first to know that the Messiah had arrived. He also went into a lot of detail about the heavenly host of angels coming down from heaven to announce the arrival of the Savior. A multitude of angles...that's a ton of angels! Can you imagine what that must have been like?

He talked about peace too. Christ made peace for us with God. Quite amazing.

So whatever your beliefs may be, I wish you PEACE this week as we approach the holiday.

It's been a busy but very nice Advent season this year. Enjoy the peace of the season.

December 21~Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice...the longest and darkest day of the year! I was doing some reading about it and I didn't realize it can fall on December 20-23rd but it usually is the 20th or the 21st. My hubby loves today as the darkness slowly disappears day by day until we reach the Summer Solstice. I personally don't mind the darkness.

I had breakfast at Multnomah Falls this morning with two dear friends, Ann and Natalie. Sadly, I forgot to charge my phone, so I wasn't able to get any pictures. We were celebrating my birthday and Natalie's birthday, which is the 23rd. We have been friends for years but we don't get to be together too often. We talked and talked and talked. Thank you Ann for picking up the tab. Thank you both for a delightful time and for all the goodies. Thank you for your friendship.

The day is almost over and as the vintage postcard above says....Good Night!

December 20th

Baby Otto
Is with us tonight! Can't put him down.
It is hard to believe that we didn't have him last Christmas. His mommy and daddy went out to dinner tonight with a friend. We are so happy to have him- what a Christmas blessing!

December 19-Samantha

Samantha has returned! A few weeks ago, my hubby got up in our attic and found my daughter Gina's Samantha doll! It was missing for quite some time. Miss Ava is really into the American Girl dolls and is hoping for Saige this Christmas. My Gina loves dolls like her mama and this is the text message I received a short time ago!
I love it! Samantha has been retired. My silly daughter has been bidding on more outfits for Samantha on EBay. It's going to be a very fun Christmas in Seattle!!!

Oh, I am tired tonight! I was out shopping most of the day after finishing my Christmas cards and getting them posted. I have a few more stops to make tomorrow after bible and then I am done with my shopping for Christmas. Time for bed.

December 16th~Miss Potter

I love Beatrix Potter's work and little books. I asked for the movie Miss Potter for my birthday and my daughter Gina gave it to me as a gift. It's really charming. We watched it after dinner tonight.

This picture is used in the movie as a Christmas present to Beatrix' publisher and her soon to be fiance.
She plans to write a book to go with the illustration. I don't think she really ever did, however, there are six illustrations put together to form The Rabbits' Christmas Party.

I wasn't able to find the sixth print online, but here are the others to enjoy.

I love all the detail in her work and I love how the animals become so human.

This last illustration is not from the group featured but I love plum pudding and I just liked it!
