Tea Time Tuesday

I really miss having tea time goodies! Being on a low sodium diet and having to watch baked goods and sweets, I haven't figured out how to have or go to tea yet. It takes a lot of time right now to plan out my weekly menu, eat at home and learn how to cook more healthy meals. I am feeling better and getting better and loosing weight, so it's all working. This afternoon, I had a cup of tea in my new teacup and thumbed through a favorite tea time book....A Year of Teas at the Elmwood Inn. I had to peek at the November Afternoon Tea just for fun. Ahhhh.

I fell in love with this fall teacup at a sale recently. I find the shape really interesting and of course, I like the handle.

It's English and a Royal Stafford bone china teacup, trimmed in gold. The colors are just lovely for autumn.

Last week I hinted that I would share some of my vintage paper place cards and other paper goods. I just love ephemera. This one has a great little turkey theme.

This one is homemade and has the person's name on a piece of yarn around the turkey's neck.

I love the colors in this little set with names nicely written on each card!

I only found 3 of these handmade little cards. Each has a turkey sticker and a little saying on each card.

Here we have two different bridge tally cards for fall. I think I have some more somewhere.

I've had this little vintage Thanksgiving card for year. I always liked the heading...Thanksgiving Joy!

My daughter found these little turkey nut cups for me a few years ago. I often wonder how these things survive.

I love this small box with bright graphics! I found it last summer at an outdoor antique show. I was happy to find that it had some of the stickers inside.

Well, that was fun! I am always on the hunt for fun seasonal paper.
Are you getting ready for Turkey Day? We will be going out to Salty's overlooking the beautiful Columbia River for their annual buffet and then over to my sister's for dessert in the evening. It will be a challenge to eat healthy. They always have salmon and turkey and salad, so I will be ok. My dietician said I could have a little pumpkin pie...skip the crust and eat a small amount. I can do that!

Tea Time #94 and Paper Place Cards

It's getting dark outside already. It's been a gloomy day with very little sunshine today. My many maple trees are shedding their leaves now, as you can certainly see in this photo. Most of our fall "color" where I live in Oregon is gold and yellow and brown. You have to go up into the hills to get more red tones.

I do love this time of the evening...dusk. I like to turn the little candles on and enjoy the flicker and just look at the fall china in my hutch.  My photos may be a bit dark today, but I like the look. I never tire of decorating my hutch for the different seasons.

This is my teacup for Tea Time Thursday. It's a Johnson Brother's piece called WILD TURKEYS Native American Windsor Ware. It is made in England. Years ago I was able to collect dinner plates, cup and saucers, a large platter and soup bowls. It really is fun to mix and match Johnson Brother's as the browns all just go together nicely.

I have been featuring this teapot in several Face Book posting and blog postings. I have had it for about 25 years and sold them at my gift shoppe. It's just a nice teapot and I cherish it.

You will also see a vintage turkey place card in from of the teapot. I  adore old paper items and pick up place card whenever I find them.

This one is graced with a lovely turkey and a name was never added to this one.

I have a set of eight of these and all are "addressed". I think they are even more charming with names from the past.

This is one of about 5 little cards. Each has a poem added by the maker!

This sweet mug mat is fabric and was given to my last year by one of my tea Pen Pals. I have never seen this fabric, but it sure is cute.

I am thrilled when I find old stickers in the little boxes. I came across this one last summer at an outdoor flea market. It has 5 unused turkeys inside.

I only have one of this place card. Don't you like the printing on this one?

Someone spent a lot of time making these turkeys. You can tell they are handmade and hand colored.

These dessert sized square plates are also made by Johnson Brothers. It is called His Majesty. I think it is still being produced. Mine are marked Made in England.

I fixed a nice pot of vegetable soup for dinner tonight. I do need to clean out the woodstove right now. It's chilly and time for a nice warm and cozy fire. Happy Tea Time Thursday and Happy November.

Tea Time Thursday # 88

The week sure went by quickly! Here we are ready to celebrate Tea Time Thursday once again.
I purchased this old book when I was on my trip out east. I just loved the cover! It is not in very good condition, but it makes for a great backdrop and I just love the graphics. It has a publisher date of 1900. Like a lot of children's books from that time, it is composed of short stories that have a message for children, encouraging them to be good children.

Jimmy found me this sweet little boxed china set from Germany. I just love this look and want to rescue every set I find. Oh oh....

I found this sweet little silverware place setting at a doll show. It is still in it's little box and features a knife, fork and spoon plus a napkin ring holder with a napkin and a knife rest. It's dolly sized but not miniature.

Last weekend I found another sweet vintage pair of children's gloves. I adore these gloves from the past. I was doing a bit of research about gloves and tea. If you wear gloves to tea, etiquette instructs you to remove them and put your napkin over them on your lap. Who knew? I was also surprised to find that you can still buy children's gloves. I do remember getting a new pair at Easter for my new Easter outfit.

This boxed note set seemed to be calling to join the party today! It's a lovely set of invitations for a children's party. I think there's about 8 different designs.

Just a little Tea Time Thursday presentation today. It's been pouring rain...time for a cup of tea. The changing weather means hot tea for sure! I am going to have a cup of vanilla caramel today. Happy almost fall.

Tea Time Thursday #82 ~ Happy Anniversary

Earlier this summer, I found this charming little cup and saucer and just had to save it for an anniversary Tea Time Thursday posting.  What a darling old timey couple. They look like they are in love, for sure.

The saucer is even shaped like a heart and is edged with cut out hearts.

Both the cup and the saucer say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY in gold script.

The teacup and saucer are marked Kelvin Fine China. From the little I could find about the company, the china seems to be made in Japan in the 1950's. I just think it's corny cute!

When Jimmy and I were married, we went to Victoria British Columbia in Canada on our honeymoon. I fell in love with the city and with Queen Victoria. I have been collecting books, china, silver and ephemera for these past 42 years.  I recently found this wonderful advertising card. It is featuring the Leading Women of the World-at Home. I love it. It's in good condition and it was only a dollar.
I just love the roses decorating the card.

I like this image of the Queen and it is different from any of my other treasures.

I also like that it features Queen Victoria's beloved Balmoral in Scotland. I guess that is the "at home" part of the card! Not your typical home.

I have been thinking about fall and making some new fall Pinterest boards. I always start longing for fall right after our anniversary.
