Tuesday Treasure ~ Transferware Find!

Today, I'd like to share with you two lovely pitchers or as the English say, two jugs. I recently found them at a flea market and I do believe, they go quite well with my growing collection. They are really lovely. They are not marked, but the seller thought they were made in England.

I wasn't really sure how transferware was made. The designs are etched on a copper plate and printed onto paper. The paper is applied to the clay item, peeled off  and then glazed and fired. The design transfers off the paper onto the clay.

Transferware comes in many colors and can also be found in multicolor patterns. I collect brown transferware, blue, pink and several Johnson Brother's patterns that are multicolored.

It all blends quite well, don't you think?

The pair are exactly the same, just a little different in size.

It makes me happy to see the floral band that goes around the outside and the inside of each pitcher. I love the design.

The handles look like a piece of twisted rope.

Here is a closer look at the delicate flowers that decorate the pitcher. It looks like a fence  surrounds the bottom of the pitcher. There seems to be a gate with a large vase filled with flowers.

I hope you enjoyed my special finds today. Remember to visit my friend BERNIDEEN at her blog. She does a very fun blog party on Monday and you can visit several creative bloggers. She posts on Mondays, but I pop over after my post on Tuesdays.

Teacup Thursday #51

You know how I love pink lusterware! When I was in Montana, I found another teacup. I really like the sweet soft design on this one. A treasure to share this week on Miss Spencer's Teacup Thursday. I am beginning to get back to normal after our trip. Jim left for Illinois yesterday and I will be off to another quilt retreat this weekend.

This little vintage rabbit candy container is hopping around looking for some Easter decorations! Hummmm....I don't know how much decorating I will be doing. Sadly, I will be alone this year on
Easter Sunday. Jim will be in Illinois, Angie will be in Las Vegas and Gina will be in Seattle.

Jim brought this small covered tureen home to me last weekend. He was at a half price Estate Sale and bought this for $7.00. It's just charming and I love it. I had the tea tile that it's sitting on-how perfect is that? A very nice match.

I was looking at these small little tea books...I got two of them in California years ago and then my friend Natalie brought me back one from Scotland when she was on vacation. The weather has turned so rainy and wintery again. I was looking for some cheer in my tea books. They always make me happy.

Happy Spring! How is the weather where you live? The blossoming trees are in bloom, along with the daffodils. I am ready for some more sunshine.
