The End of Summer, The End of the Month and Oh So Busy!

The calendar is just about ready to flip over to a new month! August has been a busy month and a happy month. On Saturday, Jimmy and I were invited to celebrate the marriage of Anna and Mike.
Anna is one of Gina's long time friends and everyone was excited about this wedding. The weather was perfect for an outside event at Anna's parent's home along the Sandy River.

Everything was ready to go! The groom and his parents were discussing picture wishes with the photographer. The clock was ticking and it was almost time to begin.

The officiator was decked out in his royal purple attire...all smiles and waiting for the nervous couple.

Our SIL Eric played a special tune as the wedding party was ready. I love this photo of Mike and his parents...everyone is smiling. I love weddings.

All set? Oh no, we had to wait for a jet to fly over! It was really funny. Anna has a fantastic sense of humor and mouthed her vows while we waited for the plane. Such style and class Anna girl!

Time to be serious and exchange vows...very sweet.

Gina and her papa. Of course we were all remembering Eric and Gina's wedding~almost two years ago.That's hard to believe!

As Jimmy and I walked back to our car, I looked up at this beautiful canopy of Douglas Fir trees. I had to pause for a moment. As I stood there admiring such beauty, I just had to say a little prayer that God would bless this newly married couple and that He would grant them a very happy marriage.

Catching Up and Moving On

Still trying to catch up on things after the wedding. Summer is still hanging on with very warm temperatures here in Oregon. I am ready to move on to fall. I woke up early this morning and it's been fun reading all my favorite blogs with a good cup of coffee. I NEED to make something or create something. That bug always seems to bite me at this time of the year!
Our honeymoon couple is on their way to France for the weekend. How exciting. 

Wedding Time and Teacup Thursday # 71

It's wedding time! Gina and Eric will be married in this Saturday! Everyone is excited and looking forward to a grand time. I can hardly believe the big day is almost here. Jim and I will be off to join the fun tomorrow.

To celebrate the special occasion and not to forget that it's Miss Spenser's Teacup Thursday, I have a lovely wedding cup and saucer to share. I have been saving this for a few months, just for today.

I just love the wedding design with bells and doves and ribbons. I think it was made in Japan, but it's hard to read the name on the back.

I love this book about marriage that I picked up years ago...very pretty Victorian pictures.

So happy to be getting a wonderful son-in-law! I hope to have lots of pictures to share next week.

Gina's Bridal Shower

I have been wanting to post pictures from Gina's Pink Lingerie Shower for quite some time, but as you have read, life has really been interesting, so I am way behind posting this for her and for my bloggers!

Angie and I did some planning a few days before the shower and had fun plotting and planning.

This was Jim's gift for his daughter....a beautiful cameo and a sweet little nightie.

This is my gift to Gina. It was a mid century tidbit tray that she had seen at the antique show. She didn't buy it, but I went back and got it for her. Then I wrapped little gifts up and tucked them all in and around on the tiered tray. I put a giant cello bag over it and tied it up with a big pink bow and ribbons.

Everything was ready and waiting for Gina's family and friends to arrive!

Wedding Favors....Crafting Therapy

My brother-in-law is doing a little better today. Jim went to the hospital and was happy to see some progress.Thank you to all for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers....he sure needs them!Alisa had friends with her to help today so I used my day to make the little Jordan Almond wedding favors for Eric and Gina's wedding. It's the only thing she asked me to make, so I was excited to spend the day crafting.

I got the darling tags from LesRoseBoutique on Etsy. Sweet and simple, just perfect.
I used the little net rounds, filled them with Jordan almonds, added a bit of lace and ribbon and attached the darling wedding tag. It did take awhile to make about 150 but they are so cute. I tied some with black ribbon as her colors are black, seafoam green, and a pinkish red along with white and cream.

Teacup Thursday #26 and Very Good News to Share!

I know it's Miss Spenser's Teacup Thrusday, but I have some very good news to share and my head is still in the clouds. Jim and I went to dinner with Gina and Eric on Monday night and they shared with us that they are engaged! They had just returned from a trip to Alaska to meet his mother and family and they found a beautiful vintage ring and well....everything just happened. They won't get married until next October and they will be living in Seattle.

Here she is helping me with some computer work showing off that beautiful ring!

Gina got a call yesterday for an interview at a community college near Seattle for a teaching position....all very last minute. She had to leave and drive up last night. She has been looking for a job all summer  without any results, so this is really an answer to lots of prayers! It's only for one class, but she will be able to get her foot in the door for more work down the road. She was so sad all week as she loves to teach. My head is still spinning.

Oh yes, back to Teacup Thursday! I chose a set that Jim picked up for me a few weeks ago as a pair~symbolic of the engaged couple. Really lovely cups, a bit of wear, but still so nice....made in France.

I think I'm really too excited to get into Teacup Thursday today. Even my pictures just didn't come out too well. but still wanted to share.

So Happy Teacup Thursday my friends. It's been quite a week for our family and I am so thanking God for His many blessings showered on us this week. The weather has cooled down too and maybe fall is on it's way in the Northwest now!
