Sunday Thoughts

A bit more wisdom from Mother Teresa for Sunday Thoughts. I was thinking about the daily things we all do at home this morning. This little sentence just convicted me. How different would our homes and our world be if we put love into everything we do? It's not always a popular thought today. I know I don't always have a cheerful heart when I am cleaning up or doing those everyday chores that are never ending.

We welcome a new month tomorrow-the month of Valentines and love, so I a going to work on my attitude this week. I hope you have a good one. 

Sunday Thoughts

Simple thoughts this Sunday morning about HOME. I am thankful for my cozy little home today. I had hopes and dreams of a big home, but it was never meant to be. Our house is small, but our home is large on LOVE. Our daughters still like to come home! Jim and I have tried to make it a place to escape from the crazy outside world. It is peaceful here and I need that and offer that to others.

A blogger friend in Washington state lost her home and everything in a fire the other night. My heart just aches for her and her family. That will put your heart in the right place!

Be thankful for the home God has granted you, take good care of it and open it's doors to those who need a bit of rest and renewal.

Home Remodeling

I am still here! We had the most wonderful vacation in New England. We were having our handy man Duane do some remodeling while we were gone. Unfortunately, there was a problem with a toilet and basically, most of the house was flooded with water! The blessing was that  Duane had pulled up the old carpet and had not put down the new flooring at the time of the flood. It all delayed his work and we have had some resulting problems. The tiles began to crack in our main bathroom, so the floor is being replaced along with new tile. PATIENCE! I'm not good at being patient. The house is looking great and I know it will all be worth it when it's done.
I've been sorting and cleaning and organizing.We have lived in our small cozy little home for almost 38 years, so you can imagine how much "stuff" there is to sort. We also made a trip to Seattle for Otto's 2nd birthday and I have been babysitting a lot. I do plan to blog about our trip in August when I hope to have our home back in order. 

Home From Alaska

Hello blogger friends! We just returned home from our trip to Alaska with our daughter Gina and SIL Eric. It was a most wonderful trip. It was so nice to be out of the heat but hard to come back a temperature of 96 yesterday and rumors of 100 today. I woke up early and have the doors open for some fresh air before the heat sets in. Of course, there's a mountain of wash and watering to be done, but my mind wants to stay in Alaska. Once I load up my photos I will have to do some trip blogging! If you are a FB friend, you have already seen some of my pictures and seen my adventure. It was all amazing.

This is FIRE WEED, a flowering plant that is everywhere in Alaska. It also grows in Canada and Britain. It should be the Alaskan state flower. It has quite a root system and loves to take over. It's seeds can wait underground for years until the perfect time to germinate. You get used to seeing it and it really is pretty. It has a very light, sweet floral smell. You can buy honey and soap and other Fire Weed items. I did buy some seeds, but I think I may try a container planting first to see how they do.

Eric told us they bloom from the bottom and when they get to the top, you will know that summer is almost over. Isn't that neat?

Time for coffee and I need to get out of vacation mode and into reality. Lots of Etsy orders to mail out today too. Stay cool. It is good to be home....HOME SWEET HOME.

Home Sweet Home

I just got a nice warm fire going in my woodstove and am waiting for the coffee to be done. I was thinking about what I am thankful for today while I was beginning my day and it has to be my home.
I am thankful for my little cozy house where Jimmy and I have lived for 37 years now. If these walls could talk! We brought both of our girls home to this house and now a sweet grandchildren comes to visit.

It's a small house and at times, it was really stuffed when the girls were growing up and their friends filled the house to the brim. Now, it's just right for the retired folks who live here and it's all on one level. When you're young, you sure don't think of those things. No more house payments...it's all ours and that's a good feeling too.

I'm also so thankful that both of my girls have a home too. Eric and Gina bought their home in August in Seattle. It's a large spacious house and what a blessing that it was all ready to meet Eric's needs. We hope it will be filled with little ones someday.

When Angie married Chris, she moved into his amazing home. He is a collector and it is sooo fun to go to their home! I still haven't seen everything and it's so great to look and look and look. Best of all, our grandchildren live there and it's not even a half and hour away from grandma and grandpa's.

A happy home is such a blessing! It is our philosophy that our home should be a sanctuary. Come in from the world and it's business and relax. You will be safe here....recharge your batteries! As Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz...there's no place like home.

Home Sweet Home

Sunday and Home Sweet Home!

As this Sunday is closing and the clouds are rolling in once again for a bit of rain, I find myself feeling very blessed and content to be HOME! It's that time of the year when we start spending more time in our homes and feel the nesting urge to settle in and enjoy just being home.The leaves are turning now and I watch as one by one, they drift down from the vintage maple trees that line the backyard. These same trees that gave us cooling shade on hot summer days, are now bringing delight with their autumn colors.
The warm fire is glowing in the woodstove and so that ritual begins. I have missed a nice cozy fire during the summer months. Once again it's time to try a new tea blend in the evening as the days turn chilly as the sun sets.
I thought it would be fun to find a few poems or quotes about HOME.  Here's a few I enjoyed tonight.
