Tea Time Tuesday #130

Did you watch the PBS special on Sunday night....VICTORIA? It was wonderful and I can't wait for more! The sets are fabulous and the costumes are exquisite. I have enjoyed reading about Queen Victoria over the years.

The young Victoria....I love this crown!

The casting is well done and it will be interesting to watch the young queen develop. Prince Albert will appear next Sunday.

I had to use my one and only Queen Victoria cup and saucer this afternoon for tea. It's a very sweet teacup and I treat it tenderly. It is a rather small cup however the saucer is regular sized.

This tea cup actually commemorates her Silver Jubilee. I have shared the cup before on my blog but it is always a joy to share this one with my readers.

Look at this fine piece I received this Christmas. It's a covered porcelain jar issued on Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. My friend Mary in Virginia gifted me with this treasure. It's a fine addition to my collection. I am crazy about  British King and Queen items.

A few years, I picked up these little cigarette collectible cards. This is the coronation series and I was lucky to find several kings and queens, including Queen Victoria! They are just fun.

It looks like our winter storm that has lasted for a whole week, is on the way out tonight. We did get a bit of freezing rain, but the temperature is warming and we are hoping that most of the snow will be melting away with the rain....it is pouring right now. That's fine with me. I will take the good old Oregon rain. I look forward to just getting in my car and driving off to do errands. It's been a whole week. I always wanted to be snowed in for a week. I guess you need to be careful what you wish for! I didn't really want to be snowed in at my own house. I never thought this would happen. It will be a sloppy mess for a few days.

Tea Time Tuesday #116

Happy Tea Time Tuesday! The weather has been stormy today with thunder and lightening along with wind and heavy rains. We seem to flip back and forth between cold and hot this season.

My daughter Gina is coming home from Seattle tomorrow for a few days. My knee and my foot is still giving me a lot of problems, so I happily accepted her offer to help me with a few things. I'm afraid I need to be thinking of seeing the doctor. Today has been a hard day and I just can't sleep at night.

Anyway, I had a nice cup of tea while I posted this blog post from the little tea that Jimmy and I enjoyed last Saturday. We HAD to wish the Queen a Happy 90th Birthday!

I love to use my Queen's Silver Jubilee teapot...it is a favorite of mine. The spout pours well and the tea stays hot. It is trimmed in silver.

I made some raspberry drop scones for tea. I like making drop scones...easy!

My dolly and cream and sugar from last week's blog had to make an appearance for this occasion.

I just love this sweet cup and saucer celebrating the Queen's coronation. It's a Rosina and I love the floral design.

I really like the scallops on this cup and saucer. It's also made by Rosina.

I have been on the hunt for little plates for tea time . I was able to find a two of this pattern. This is a small size...bread and butter...but it works well for just a scone or small dessert. I do have a few luncheon sized ones and continue the hunt for a few more. I do love the hunt!

Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth. I hope you are granted many more years of good health and many blessings.

Thursday Treasures

Queen Elizabeth II's official birthday celebration to will be June 11th. She actually turned 90 on April 21st. This morning I shared a few goodies on my Tasha Tudor site for Dolly Thursday. These are some finds from a few years back.

I love the little Queen Elizabeth doll. She is all decked out in her crown and jewels.

She still has her tag, which is always an extra treat.

This is a sweet little children's book about the Queen's coronation. The two little American children make the queen a beautiful candle that is used in her coronation.

I love paper dolls. I picked this up at an estate sale. It is very fragile but I really treasure it.

I enjoy looking for king and queen things from England to use for tea time. These are my most recent finds.

Edward VIII wasn't king for very long, so it was fun to find an item from his time as king.

As I love red transfer ware, this was an interesting find. It is dated and marked CROWNED  June 26th, 1902. It features Edward VII and Alexandra . It is stamped on the bottom of the mug...Marked for Harrod's Ltd London.

I have been looking for a cream and sugar for all my royal tea items. I finally found a great one! it was made by Ansley to celebrate King George and Mary's Silver Jubilee 1910-1935.

I also found a little metal pencil box celebrating the silver Jubilee too. It's a very fun item for my collection.

It will be fun to see how the Queen will be celebrated on June 11th. God has bless her with a long life and a long reign.

Tea Time Thursday #87

Happy Tea Time Thursday! As Queen Elizabeth becomes the longest reigning monarch in England, I just have to share a few goodies that I have featured in the past. Isn't it exciting to be living right now to say God Save the Queen!  I think it's so very wonderful that she also has the longest marriage of any monarch in England....68 years of marriage. AMAZING! I love Queen Victoria and I never imagined that Queen Elizabeth would pass up the years of service that Queen Victoria gave.

This is one of my favorite teacups. It was made to celebrate the Queen's coronation in 1952. I have many Queen Elizabeth cup and saucers, but I especially like the green color and the image on the cup.

The cup and sauce also show the Queen's crown. Stunning.

The cup is bone china and was made by the Aynsley china company. I love Aynsley patterns.

Another favorite item in my collection is my teapot that commemorates the Queen's silver jubilee in 1977. It's trimmed with silver, which is used in silver anniversaries. Most teapots and teacups are trimmed in gold.

The teapot is made by Sadler. Notice the little top on the lid...I think it looks like a silver crown.

A few weeks ago, my Jimmy brought home a stack of magazines from an estate sale. He was given them for free. They are just wonderful I am so enjoying reading through them. Most of them are from the 1970's.

This is a look at a table of contents so you can get a little look at what is inside. Lots of fun reading ahead for me!

I found this article to be very interesting about celebrating the Queen's birthday...her OFFICIAL birthday!

Our weather has turned hot again. It's an iced tea day, I'm afraid. Rain may return next week, so a cup of hot tea will have to wait. Enjoy!

Getting Back to Blogland!

After weeks of busy days, a quilt retreat, company from Montana, a baby shower for our daughter and babysitting, shopping for Etsy items, posting Etsy, and shipping Etsy orders, I am finally going to try to catch up with my blog and get back to blogging! I hope to post pictures from all the past fun events!

I couldn't let today slip by without  mentioning Queen Elizabeth II's 60th anniversary today of her coronation. I am fascinated with the British monarchy and have enjoyed following this queen's many years of service. Love these paper dolls of the coronation.

I always thought Queen Victoria would be the longest reigning monarch with her almost  64 years of sitting on the throne! I do believe that the current queen has a good chance of matching or beating that record.

Long Live the Queen!

Teacup Thursday #61 and the Queen

Last weekend Jim and I went to some delightful estate sales. I fell in love with this vase and when we went back for the 1/2 price sale, it was still there. Now it lives in our home. I thought it would be just perfect for my Teacup Thursday this week to honor the Queen of England's 60th Jubilee which came to a close on Tuesday. So, this wonderful vase is taking us to London to see the Queen! Here's the back side of the vase with all it's wonderful colors. I love it!

So I thought it would be so fun to bring out some of my various queen things and make a little display of it all. So fun to share it with my blogger friends on this the Queen's 60th Jubilee.

I bought this wonderful teapot at a favorite little gift shoppe years ago-The Green Door-and sadly it no longer exists. The teapot is from the Queen's 25th Anniversary. I like it because it has silver decorations instead of the usual gold trim.

I have enjoyed collecting a variety of teacups celebrating the various queens and hope to find more!

I think this one is so pretty because it has roses and even some around the inside of the cup.

A nice little plate celebrating the Queen's coronation in 1953. Great plates for teatime.

I like this teacup and the picture of the Queen with her two children at the time of her coronation.

Time for some goodies....bring on the teatime treats! I found some little cupcakes with red white and blue sprinkles. Fresh strawberries, lemon cakes, and various frosted l brownies. Oh oh, not diet food!

Here's another sweet item we found at the estate sale last weekend. A great bowl from the King's coronation of 1937. It has a great decal of the royal state couch in the center. I didn't have anything like this in my collection, so I was delighted. The blue hanky is also from the King's coronation....charming.

Thank you for letting me share my collection with you in blogland. Best wishes for Queen Elizabeth II and as they say~Long Live the Queen and God Bless the Queen!
