Gratitude Sunday~A Warm Fire and a Cup of Cocoa

Is there anything more comforting than a nice warm fire in the winter? I'm liking with Linda at
A LA CARTE for Gratitude Sunday #4. I took this picture last night of the fire in our wood stove. That little stove has warmed our little home for 34 years! We sure would miss it. Everyone loves to come in and warm themselves by the fire! I am always so thankful for the fire in the winter and miss it in the summer.

This is our wood pile outside. Jim has it covered with tarps to keep it dry. We have used a lot this year and the pile is shrinking. We burned quite a bit the last few weeks when it was so cold and windy.

Jim keeps some smaller pieces chopped for me outside to help me start the fire. It's just part of the routine for whoever gets up first in the mornings.

We found a great box for our wood inside by the wood stove years ago. I was born in Yakima WA, so I love this old beverage box.

So, you need a cup of cocoa or hot chocolate to go with that nice warm fire in the evenings. This is an organic one we found in Poulsbo WA at a great market. It's very good!

Ready for a cup? Jim loves whipped cream with his. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. The kids know we like hot chocolate and often give us packets at Christmas. We always have quite an assortment. Come on over for some hot cocoa and a chat by the fire....warm yourself!

I love my gas fireplace for the convience, but sometimes I wish I could have a real fire. That chocolate sounds and looks wonderful. My friend in CA says they haven't had any rain so I guess we shouldn't complain about our weather. Enjoy.

I have to agree with you Linda!! There is nothing like a "REAL" fire in the fire place. We just sold our mountain cottage and we always had a "real" fire going!! Here at home we have gas burning logs and we don't use it since it cost so much to use gas. I'm about to replace the fireplace with a wood burning stove! 2 fold= warmth and romance :-}}

Hey Linda...I'm just about to light the fireplace! We have a wood burning one. Love, love, love it, like you.

Mmmmmm. Hot chocolate sounds good. Never heard of that brand, though. Must be a west coast selection. We use Hersheys around these parts.

Take care and have a nice evening! Susan

Hello Linda~ I'm with you- I LOVE a fire in the hearth. I also enjoy hot chocolate many evenings, and my daughter makes the best cup ever. I tried to follow her recipe (she makes it from scratch) but hers always tastes better- haha!
Enjoy the end of January,
Shawn

There's nothing like a wood stove for providing heat and to dry the house when it's rainy and damp. I love hot cocoa too but I need the sugar free type now. Enjoy your week! Hugs!
