Saturday February 9th

I am absolutely in LOVE with cookie cutters! I have a kitchen drawer " plus " full of them and I don't know why, but I just can't resist buying a new one. I even like to make cut out cookies with all the mess they add to the kitchen. And then the fun begins when you get to frost them or add sprinkles or other goodies.

It's a damp and gray day here in Oregon. I just thought this would be fun to post some pictures I found. I do have most of the ones shown here I did borrow the pix!

I NEED to get a heart in hand cutter. I just always love this symbol. I have seem some primitive ones to die for!

This is the clear plastic red ones that I grew up with as a child. My sister has my mom's but I have found all of the ones we had growing up and have ventured into other holidays and occasions.

The current day type are just the best. They cut out easily and work so well.

This is a Hallmark one from when my kids were young. They grew up with these as we owned a Hallmark Pharmacy for years. Very sweet memories....

I love this vintage kid with the handles and the scalloped edging. These work great too.

It doesn't show perfectly but this is a copper cookie cutter. They are almost too pretty to use, but sure are decorative.

I just like the double heart! Happy Valentines Season. Do you like to bake cookies? Do you have a favorite?

Here's a recipe for sugar cut out cookies that I got years ago from Tupperware. It works very well with plastic cutters. Enjoy~

GRANNY'S SUGAR COOKIES
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Cream together: 1/2 c softened butter
                          1 c sugar

Blend in:            1 large egg

Sift together and add to mixture: 2 to 2 1/2 c all purpose flour
                                                    2 tsp baking powder
                                                    1/2 tsp salt
                                                    1/2 tsp vanilla

Divide dough into two parts. Chill 1 to 2 hours so it will be easy to handle.
Roll out the dough, one part at a time, to 1/8" thickness and cut with cookie cutters.
Keep the other part of the dough chilled until ready to use.
Transfer cookies to a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
Cool and frost as desired.

Makes about 2 doz cookies.

Leave room for the cookies to spread on the cookies sheet. It doesn't say anything about that, but they do puff up nicely.

Wonderful cookie cutters! I have never had much luck making sugar cookies. I have several cookie cutters that are so nice to use for seasonal cookie making. It has been years since I tried to make sugar cookies. I will try you recipe to see if I have success.

Smiles,
