Thursday Treasures

Queen Elizabeth II's official birthday celebration to will be June 11th. She actually turned 90 on April 21st. This morning I shared a few goodies on my Tasha Tudor site for Dolly Thursday. These are some finds from a few years back.

I love the little Queen Elizabeth doll. She is all decked out in her crown and jewels.

She still has her tag, which is always an extra treat.

This is a sweet little children's book about the Queen's coronation. The two little American children make the queen a beautiful candle that is used in her coronation.

I love paper dolls. I picked this up at an estate sale. It is very fragile but I really treasure it.

I enjoy looking for king and queen things from England to use for tea time. These are my most recent finds.

Edward VIII wasn't king for very long, so it was fun to find an item from his time as king.

As I love red transfer ware, this was an interesting find. It is dated and marked CROWNED  June 26th, 1902. It features Edward VII and Alexandra . It is stamped on the bottom of the mug...Marked for Harrod's Ltd London.

I have been looking for a cream and sugar for all my royal tea items. I finally found a great one! it was made by Ansley to celebrate King George and Mary's Silver Jubilee 1910-1935.

I also found a little metal pencil box celebrating the silver Jubilee too. It's a very fun item for my collection.

It will be fun to see how the Queen will be celebrated on June 11th. God has bless her with a long life and a long reign.

Tea Time Thursday #44

Last weekend I was at an estate sale and spotted this teapot and the demitasse cup and saucer. They have that English look that I just love! It has flowers, little ladies, cottages and gardens. I'm not sure if there is a word for this "look" but I love it. I mixed it with a few goodies I had already and It just all goes together and makes me happy!

The teapot has the cutest shape! I couldn't get my eyes off of it. I couldn't find a price, so I asked the lady working the sale. She said it had a little chip under the lid and said, $5. I was just looking at it and was going to take it and she said, oh how about $3!  Yes! It is adroable.

I just love the little cup and saucer. I'm such a sucker for cottages and this one has a thatched roof too!
I had the cake plate and have used it many times for tea. It has been a favorite for years.

Such a pretty lady in her garden. These pieces often have blue trim...another selling point!

I also was able to buy this lovely cottage small table cloth that just matches perfectly and was in such
good condition. It goes well with the teacup embroidered little napkins I already had in my collection.

Of course, I just couldn't leave this sweet book of poems there! It was first printed in 1913. My copy is from 1916. It is filled with interest poems with helpful messages for the reader.

Happy Tea Time Thursday! It continues to be hot here in Oregon. I have been drinking more iced tea than hot tea. I miss my afternoon tea times with Jimmy. COLD beverages are in order these days. Stay cool.

August! Teacup Thursday #67

August has arrived....the last month of summer. Summer has been very slow in coming here in Oregon this year, but the weatherman is predicting near 100 degree temps this weekend. The garden and the flowers are loving the sunshine.  I'm featuring a lovely rose teacup for Teacup Thursday this week. I got this one at a garage sale, yes, a bargain. It's so pretty and I think it's very summery.

I love the shape of the cup and of course, I always favor the cups that have something added inside.

The design goes from bud to bigger bud to buds with a rose in full bloom on the saucer.

The teacup is made by Dover China made in England. This is the only one I own by this company.

I have been having a hard time with my roses this summer, but as you can see, this bush has taken off again and it looks pretty healthy.

Have you been enjoying the summer Olympics in London? I was invited to my sister's house to watch the opening ceremonies on their big screen TV . It was wonderful and of course my favorite part was the Queen and 007's entrance!
WIth the interest in England, London and the Olympics, I was enjoying a sweet little book that I pulled out to enjoy.

An English Cottage Year. I love the graphics and little projects and recipes that guide you through the year.

Of course I love the pages on lavender.

I took some photos of my lavender in my garden to go along with the book pictures.

Love the bee boxes and bee skeeps....

I had to sneak up on the bee but I finally got a picture!

Happy Teacup Thursday! Thanks Miss Spenser for hosting the party. I'm going to enjoy the treat my husband brought home this afternoon. This is one of the things I love about summer-berries!

Michael Wood's Story of England

I've been watching this series on OPB our local PBS station. I love history and have been learning so much from this series. It's well done and informative. Michael Wood is an historian and takes you through the entire history of the area of Kibworth. Quite a journey from the Romans to the present.

One of my favorite parts is the digs they do in the town and all the neat things they find. All done by local people. Wouldn't that be fun!

Have to wait until next Tuesday for the next episode...sigh.
