Tea Time Thursday #97

I was surprised when I looked at my blog that I hadn't done a TEA TIME THURSDAY blog post for quite awhile. I am happy to be getting back to my weekly posts this New Year. My quilting friend Nancy, gifted me with these two wonderful tea towels that she made for me. She does lovely embroidery work...done by hand. I was just thrilled.

Don't you just love them? I do. She is working on a set of towels for her two daughter-in-laws. She is doing one for each month, seasonal towels, and they are adorable. She said she really had fun making these two for me.

Last week I put my red transferware dishes in my hutch after Christmas. I have only been collecting it for a few years...nothing matches but then hunt is fun.

This is my most recent addition. I found it last summer at a sale. It is called Harvest and is marked USA. It's nothing special, but I like trio sets and it was only $1 for the set.

I enjoyed this tea sent from my friend Melinda who lives in Vermont. YUMMY! I am so blessed by friends who know how much I love tea and all the goodies that go with it.

My hubby renewed my subscription to TEA TIME as a Christmas gift. I think I'll enjoy that cup of tea and read my magazine. It's been a busy day. Tomorrow I will be setting up the displays for Jim's antique and collectible show, so I need a little R&R tonight.

Aurora Colony Quilt Show

One of my very favorite fall activities is the Aurora Colony Quilt Show in October. It's hard for me to wait for this excuse to drive out to one of my most favorite places. I like this show because it's a nice blend of contemporary, vintage and antique quilts. Anyone can enter any type of quilt and the visitors get to vote for their favorite quilt...fun! Of course, the setting of the museum is so perfect for quilts.

I love this picture. The basket on the painted cupboard (very Aurora colony) is an Aurora Colony basket. I have yet to find one, but I hope to add one to my collection someday. Jim and I have found a colony chair and a small table, so we are on the hunt for the basket.

A close up of an antique appliqued quilt. So much work and can you see all the hand quilting?

This is a well loved doll blanket in a display at the colony. You know how I love dolly quilts!

This is a contemporary quilt that really appealed to me. The use of fabrics just gives it a vintage feel. It was very well done.

This is another new quilt and it was quite small, but so nicely done. I like the colors an the little star added in each corner.

This part of the show was in the other building with much more light and a different feeling. A group of hand quilters meet at the colony every Thursday morning. I wish I lived closer.

Notice the wallpaper...I love the design. I bought some note cards in the gift shoppe with this print...so pretty.

Sewing machines have come so far, but once, this was such a delight for the home sewer.

We always enjoy the music this couple adds to the many events at the colony. I have several of their offerings. The Christmas one is my favorite.

Another example of a bright and contemporary quilt. This one just made me smile. How could anyone be sad looking at this lovely quilt?

Love these little ladies....very time dated with the the lavendar and yellow fabrics.

I know, I take a picture every year of the doll house, but I just love it.

The herb society was in the washroom, selling a few of their wares and sharing about their group. They have a great newsletter. They tend the herb gardens at the colony. They were selling a nice herbal tea..Emma's tea.

Jimmy is such a good sport to come with me. It was such a beautiful fall day, as you can see in this photo. These are the days you wish would last forever.

The little store in one of the cabins, is set up with donated goodies you can buy to help raise money for the museum. I always find things I can't live without...you know, fat quarters, patterns, embroidery kits.
I also brought home some great magazines to read through. Each bundle was only $1! I really enjoyed the Southern Lady ones. I haven't seen any of those for years.

Can't wait for next October!

A Simple Life

My summer copy of A SIMPLE LIFE magazine arrived recently. It's such a delightful and well done magazine that I so enjoy. I really am torn between the primitive style and the Victorian era...I appreciate and love so many things from each time period. I'm glad I have my tearoom so I can just go crazy with Victorian treasures! This issue has a great article by one of my Tasha Tudor friends, Amy Lesser, done with Tasha Tudor's daughter Bethany Tudor. Interesting story about starling birds. I
have to admit that even after reading the article, I still don't like starlings!

Fun and yummy recipes are included~

Another Tasha Tudor friend from our group is Christine Crocker. She is a wonderful writer who adds great stories to the magazine too. Christine is an amazing doll maker. She is making me one of her little ladyes thanks to my husband! She sent sent me a pictures of my new doll, my I don't want to share her yet. I will say that that I am thrilled with her creation for me and can't wait to get my hands on the new doll! Christine is so sweet and so talented!

I was looking for some rustic looking candles and found some on Etsy. I ordered them from Kentucky Prims and when I got my wonderful candles, Angela had added a darling little prim fabric sunflower! It will make a great pinkeep.

It rained here today and spoiled our chance to break a record for the longest sequence of dry days in May! I was hoping to do some planting, instead we went to a few sales. I found the most wonderful
primitive doll hutch! It's adorable! My dear husband dickered and bought it for me....thanks Jim! After we bought it, the seller told us he had gotten it from Herself's. Jim and I just looked at each other and couldn't believe it. We had just had a conversation about Herself's the other morning. It was a wonderful antique shoppe at Lincoln City OR that we always went to when we made a trip to the coast. She was so sweet and gave the girls something every time we went it. It's odd to think that maybe I looked at this years ago. She's been out of business for years and the seller told us he had had it for sometime.
Here it is before I added a few kitchen treasures.

Last January, I found some very cute tin kitchen items and I couldn't wait to add them to my little hutch! I had a little ironstone teapot and I just had to add it to the goodies.

Another fun Sunday and the beginning of another busy week. We'll be off to Maupin later this week.

Teacup Thursday #50

This beautiful teacup was given to me by my dear friend LaVonne. When I was sharing gifts from friends after Christmas, I wanted to feature this special treat too, but I had packed it away. When I took down my Valentine decorations, I found it packed with some extra things from my tearoom. It's so sweet and I like the fluted cup and saucer.

It's marked Burslem...which is an English made cup. I didn't have much time to research it, but I'm sure Ruth on our Miss Spenser's Teacup Thursday know about the company!

We had snow again this week and it lasted most of yesterday. We have had more winter weather lately than we had all winter!Spring is coming officially next week! I hope it warms up and gets me in the mood. Easter isn't that far away. I have some of my favorite magazines just piled up waiting to be read and enjoyed. I've been so busy with my Etsy that I haven't had much time for much else. I'm not complaining! I need some nice weather and sunshine to start thinking bunnies!

Happy St Patrick's to all my blog friends. I really didn't get to celebrate it this year...next year!

Fall is in the air!

We arrived home yesterday after a wonderful trip! All in all, the weather was pretty nice and we enjoyed seeing our friend Angie. I'm sorry I didn't get to visit with Clarice, but her girls have chicken pox and poor mom was playing Nurse Nancy all weekend.

It's good to be home and it really feels like fall this morning. I'm going to start putting up my fall things over the next few days. Time to clean and decorate! Would love to skip the cleaning part but....

This is a magazine that I so enjoy. My Tasha friend Christine Crocker writes for the magazine and I always look forward to her articles.

Think fall!

A Simple Life Magazine

I received my summer issue of A SIMPLE LIFE magazine today~it's such a quality publication. Of course, it reminds me of Tasha Tudor and another part of the country. I find it fascinating and inspiring. It's a good place to get lost- especially after this crazy day. I'm glad that evening has come and day is done!
I still can't figure out where my Wednesday and Thurday posts went this afternoon? A mystery.
They came back without the comments. I've had a day with Cricket, the bank, the post office and technical things...ugh.
On a happier note, my dear friend Janice has been sending me such fun newspaper articles in the mail. It's so sweet to find snail mail in my mailbox.
