The Dolls Celebrate May Day!

Happy Mother's Day and welcome to another month! Who knows what another month into the virus will bring our way? I decided that I needed a bit of fun with the dolls. They bring me lots of happiness and they are good therapy.

I wanted to try to make little dolly May Day baskets. I settled on paper cornucopias filled with little flowers. I played around with scrapbook papers and pink paper doilies.

I pick up little flowers at flea markets and estate sales. I certainly had enough to choose from for the treats.

Then the dolls cleared the tea table and set up the crafts. They decided to wear flower wreaths in their hair for the little craft party. They were busy and had so much fun!

Tasha was quite pleased with her finished projects. She was able to help the other little ladies.

Lily was having a great time working on the May Day flower baskets. This was her first year here at Harlow House for the May Day fun.

The little table has been set for spring time!

Miss Hitty Noel was so excited to receive a basket this May! She looks just thrilled, doesn't she?

The other little ladies found this one on their dollhouse door!

This is little Annabelle. She was one of my first dolls and was made from a kit put together by my Tasha friend Kristen. She is only 10 1/2" tall.

This is my other Annabelle and Daphnie. They are so pretty and loved finding a May Day for them!

One more little basket for this sweet little miss. What a fun day it was for the dolls.

May Day Exchange

It's May....and well into the lovely month! I have been a bit distracted with my dad, but wanted to post some fun things going on in my ife. My Tasha Tudor group....Take Peace....had a May Day exchange. Oh what fun. I just love exchanges. The gifts are just delightful, but it's nice to personally connect with people, esp on large groups.

I was paired up with Salina. Isn't that such a pretty name? I get excited when I open up the box and find sweet goodies inside. It's so neat to see what a person chooses for you.

She put together a very special box for me and I am so thankful for it all. Joy Joy Joy!

She made a darling May Day Basket from a little parasol. Isn't that clever!

Salina discovered that I am a quilter. She even took the book and had a plastic binder put on the side for easy use. I have never had a quilting journal!

Yummy new tea and sweet candies!

We like to add little dolly or teddy bear treats in our boxes too, so Miss Annabelle got some goodies too.

A new wind chime for my garden too. Thanks you soooo much Salina!

Happy May Day blogger friends! It was just the most perfect spring day here in Oregon. We have been so spoiled by the nice weather all winter and it looks like spring will be the very same. It's been in the 70's and that's so perfect.

I flipped my little calendar over this morning to a new month. I love the month of May! It's the month I plant my flower gardens and everything is so fresh.

I decided to take my camera and go on the hunt for blooming flowers in my yard. I haven't planted anything new yet, but I found many thing blooming. Pansies.....

HAPPY MAY DAY!

Happy May Day from the Pacific Northwest! The sun is out and the weatherman is promising some very nice spring weather through the weekend.  I hope to do some yard work later today! It's time.
I usually post fun pictures of May Day Baskets on this day. Did you make them when you were little? I loved to make little paper baskets and put them on doors after ringing the doorbell and running away.
I was reading that May Baskets were a way for children to do something for others. I had never thought of that.

Instead of posting paper flower baskets, I decided to share some photos of my flower beds and focus on some quilts that are made with various "BASKET" blocks! I love making basket quilt blocks. Maybe I need to make one on my next quilt retreat????

My Forget-Me-Nots are in full bloom. I just love them and of course, they make me think of Tasha Tudor. She loved them but her gardener was always pulling them out! Shame on him.

I like this basket block with the curved handle. I can make this now that I learned how to cut on the bias
and hand applique.

Can you ever have too many azaleas in the northwest? I don't think so. This in one I planted last spring.

Another fun block pattern. Half square triangles rule! I like the pretty fabric used in this neat block.

This candy tuft is one of the last things still growing that I planted 37 years ago when we moved into our little house. It still keeps going every year.

I love this quilt! Boy, someone did a lot of work on this. It is called a cactus basket block.

Of course my Lavender is coming back to life. The bees just love it. This is the butterfly lavender plant.

I love the four baskets in the block pattern. Nice choice of color too.

More Forget-Me-Nots mixed in with my ornamental strawberries. They flower but do not produce berries...just a ground cover under a maple tree in front.

Teacup Thursday # 56

I've been working very hard this week~SPRING CLEANING. I was able to get most of the house done but there's always so much to do! I haven't washed the windows or cleaned out all the closets yet, but I was able to get quite a bit done. At least the woodstove dust is gone gone gone! And here it is time for Miss Spenser's Teacup Thursday already!

I love this cup and saucer. Jim bought it for me at the doll show in March and I've been saving it for this week. As Tuesday was May Day, I thought this was such a perfect teacup. It's by Aynsley and features a couple different nursery rhymes that we learned long ago. I love nursery rhymes. Do children still learn them?

"Mary Mary, quite contrary.....how does your garden grow?"

I adore this little Miss Mary watering her silver bells and cockle shells...

The cup has sweet little ladies singing "Ring-a-Ring of roses, a pocket full of posies."
A bit different from the way we used to sing it. Don't you love the colors and the design?

This darling piece of linen just seems to be another Miss Mary in her garden! It opens up and has a pocket inside.

I shared this little plate last year for May Day, but I love it so much, I thought it should be shared again.
The charming children are dancing around the May Pole.

So this is my yummy dessert tonight after all my hard work. Treats are good. Jim returns home later today-he's been off fishing again. I have plenty of goodies to share with him with tea or coffee when he tells me all those "fish stories" once he's home again.
My youngest daughter sent me a text that she'll be home from Seattle this weekend and I guess my two kids have cooked up an early Mother's Day time together on Saturday. First on the list...help the mom get a new phone...a smart phone! Something new for the old mom!

I started a new Beth Moore bible study a few weeks ago on James and of course, it is so good! We meet on Thursday mornings, so I won't be able to read and enjoy your TEA TIME posts until the afternoon or evening.
