February 11th....Full Moon Tonight!

Full moon tonight! We have clear skies and it is bright out there. The moon has many wintery names this month...snow, ice, wind, sleet, rabbit, crow and storm to name a few. These graphics are just so cute and include the rabbit, cupid and the full moon.
It was a busy day today and I am ready to call it a day. We will be celebrating our 3 February birthdays tomorrow in the afternoon...Ava, Jimmy and Chris. It should be fun.

What a week!

WOW...this past week was sure not what I planned last Sunday! We needed to watch our little Otto 3 days, so on Tuesday, I brought him over to our home for a change up. It was really hot, 85+ for a few days. It's too early for that kind of heat! At least it is for this grandma! He ran around the backyard chasing bubbles and balls and we all had a great time. He's getting so big...my little monkey man. He is a funny one who loves to make Gma laugh. I can't believe he is almost 3 years old already.

Then on Wednesday, my dad had a dental appointment. Jim took me to the play gym with Otto and then took dad to the dentist. We had no idea he had to have 2 teeth removed and 3 roots cut out. Poor guy. He needed a lot of care and sure couldn't be left alone, so Jim and I took turns for the next 3 days going over to be with him. He is doing really good now and will have to heal for a couple weeks before he has to have more work done.

I missed posting my  Tasha Dolly Thursday post with my Thursday finds too! Just too busy. This is the doll I posted on my Tasha group. She is Mary Lennox from the Secret Garden book. Tasha Tudor illustrated the book. It's one that is so available, I think all Tasha fans own a copy.

She was put out by a company called Kids-At-Heart. I have read in the past that there were problems with the production of the dolls and they didn't make them very long. Mine is fine. I had an opportunity to buy her at a very good price and my Tasha friend told me to buy it!

I recently found this book for my Tasha library at the Cellar Door books in New Hampshire. We got to visit John and Jill who own the shoppe last summer. I has never seen the book and it is just wonderful. A great and fun addition filled with all kinds of fun crafts and recipes...lots of tea time recipes.

 Friday was also the full moon! I didn't take this photo and couldn't find the person who did take it. This month is the full pink moon. I love this photo of the moon and our beautiful Mt Hood. We often call the mountain, Old Dad Hood! I get to see this mountain everyday.

I do hope this next week will be a bit more quite...but who knows! 

January Full Moon

Full moon tonight! I was able to snap this photo last night as I knew it would be raining tonight.
You can see the clouds moving across the winter sky. Our weather has turned warm and wet once again. I know many of my blogger friends are under a blanket of snow tonight.

The names of the moon are many this month...most of them do sound like winter.
Wolf,winter, cold, stay inside, big cold, whirling winds, freezing, ice, old, cooking and quiet.
My choice this January is QUIET! Oh, how I love quiet! I think that's way I really like winter.

This is a wonderful children's book about the full moon. I need to order this to share with the grandchildren.

We had a nice surprise tonight. Our daughter Gina showed up at our door this afternoon! An unexpected visitor from Seattle. She came down for her friend's birthday. Always a treat to have her with us.

Sunday Thoughts on a Beautiful Fall Day!

I just love this quote for today! How very true. I think most of us just feel close and connected with God when we have that chance to experience nature. Fall is a fabulous time to see God's beauty. I am in awe of God's creation in the fall. Luther speaks of the stars in this quote too. Tonight there is a full moon and a lunar eclipse. That should be quite a show! It's a lovely sunny fall day here in Oregon, so I will be able to see the lunar eclipse this evening with clear skies.
I hope you are having a nice Sunday and I hope you have a bit of time to enjoy God's beauty in some way this afternoon. Thanks God for the four seasons....especially for fall!

Full Moon Tonight and Remembering a Friend

The first FULL MOON of the New Year is tonight. It's called the Wolf Moon. This beautiful photo was found on Pinterest and I love it. I don't know if the clouds will clear enough here in Oregon for me to actually see the moon tonight. Some of the other names are winter, quiet, freezing, cold and staying inside moon.

I am sad tonight. On Saturday, Jim and I were told that a dear friend had taken his life. His dad drove to our home to tell us. I taught with his mom as a young teacher and have known Tim since he was in grade school. He was struggling with things in his life but we thought he was doing better. It will always be a mystery, something we will not be able to understand. He leaves a daughter behind who he loved so dearly. I am praying for all of his family and especially his daughter. So very sad.

I want to thank all my sweet blogger friends who have been so kind to read my blog and leave me messages. It is just hard to keep doing everyday things right now. I will be back soon.

September Full Moon Tonight!

Did you notice the moon the last few nights? It is bright and big and just beautiful! It's actually full tonight-September 8th. It has cooled off a bit here in Oregon and it feels a bit like fall, a warm fall day.
I love to find the names of the full moon.  Here's just a few...HARVEST, CORN and BARLEY.

I snapped this photo last night when I was out watering after such a hot day. It was so pretty peeking between my big maple trees. I hope you can see it where you live tonight. I'm going out for another look!

It's also my daughter Gina and SIL Eric's second wedding anniversary today. It's amazing how quickly the years slip by. The traditional gift for the second wedding anniversary is cotton. We filled a bag of cotton balls with some dollar bills for fun! It was Jimmy's idea...pretty cute.

Full Moon Tonight

The full moon will be extra bright tonight~it is called a super moon! I love this advise from the moon.
It is very hot here in Oregon and we will be able to see the full moon tonight! Ah, summer. 

The Beaver Full Moon

Good Sunday evening from a chilly and windy Oregon. Just checking in with a little full moon report.  One of the names for the November Full Moon is the BEAVER MOON. Maybe you like a different name~Frosty, White, Snow, Dark, Moon of the Turkey or Moon When All Gather In. The moon was so bright last night, but we have clouds hiding her beauty from us this November evening.It was a busy weekend for Jimmy and me. I am looking forward to a productive week ahead...the to do list is long, very long. I will leave you with a little haiku for tonight by Nancy Chambers.

Strawberry Time at Aurora and the Strawberry Full Moon!

Yesterday was just the most beautiful early summer day, but when we woke up this morning, it was raining. We had plans to go out to Aurora Colony for the Strawberry Social. We were a big worried that we would get soaked, but heh, when you live in Oregon, you just go with the weather, rain and all!
I write about the Aurora Colony all the time but we had never attended the Strawberry Social. What a treat! You get this yummy shortcake, ice cream and strawberry shortcake yummy treat plus you are entertained by old time fiddlers and other musicians. It was a blast!

 Jimmy loves strawberries, and because he loves to support the Colony, he has to have an extra goodie!

The court was there helping bus tables and doing PR work! The were just delightful. The queen is in red. They were all good friends and were so fun to watch running around, full of giggles.

We shared a table with Adam and Lettie! Aren't they just the cutest couple? They were from Salem and are celebrating their first wedding anniversary in two days. Little love birds for sure. We enjoyed chatting with them. Happy Anniversary you guys!

Boy could these guys play the fiddle! A fun variety of songs with some vocal additions too. This man in the picture below was 97 years old and he was having so much fun and was so full of life.

This gal was fantastic and got the crowd really going!

They had put up tents to make sure we were out of the rain. A nice turn out. You can see part of the herb garden in full bloom in the front of the photo.

Can't wait to attend next year! A fun afternoon and a great way to support the Aurora Colony.

Some strawberry jam made it's way home with Jimmy....yummy! This is the 50th anniversary year of the museum so lots of fun things have been planned to celebrate all year.

By the way, there's a full moon tonight and one of the names for the June full moon is the Strawberry Full Moon...perfect! Too bad we can't see it for all the rain and cloudy skies.

Full Moon Tonight!

Full moon tonight! I'm not sure if you can see it where you live as winter continues across our country this week. The clouds have parted here and there at my home in Oregon. The moon just lights up the night sky and I love it! Sometimes I don't even have to turn on the light in my bedroom.

The February moon has many names, but most seem to speak winter~the sleet moon, the snow moon, the ice moon, the hunger moon, the moon when geese fly home, the crow moon and the rabbit moon to name a few.

I found this very Kate Greenaway print with the full moon on Etsy. I just might have to order this!

Full Moon Tonight!

Full moon tonight! It's the first full moon after the beginning of fall, so it's called the Harvest Moon.
It is a big and beautiful moon here in Oregon with a clear sky!

When Jim and I were up at Timberline Lodge in August, I took these pictures of one of their displays.
I thought it would be fun to share this fall for the full moon. This info is from the Camp Fire Girls Handbook. It lists the September moon as the Leaf Falling Moon...I like that!

The Strawberry Full Moon

It's strawberry time in Oregon. We just finished up our second batch of fresh local berries tonight  and will have to head to the berry stand tomorrow for more! As my Jimmy says, "You can't get 'em in January!"

I don't know how they are so yummy and sweet as we haven't had an abundance of sunshine. I like them best just cut up in a bowl, but these treats sure look delicious.

My friends on the east coast often talk about Moon Pies. I have never had one but found that they do make a Strawberry Moon Pie!

How perfect as it's a full moon on Monday and one of it's several names is the STRAWBERRY FULL MOON. Other names are: blooming, rose, lotus, windy, green corn, planting, moon of horses, and moon when June berries are ripe.

February 7th...One Week Until Valentine's Day!

Isn't this Valentine quilt just fantastic!!! I found the pattern for a place in Texas called Stitchin' Heaven. This is a block of the month quilt and I love it. Looks like a lot of work but what a treasure when it's done. Maybe someday.......

There's a full moon tonight. It's was just filling the sky with it's winter light last night~I love it when it's clear on full moon nights.

December 10th...Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse

Teacup Thursday #30

I always give a full moon report to my Tasha Tudor group every month and this October moon is called The Hunter's Moon which was actually full on Tuesday night. It's very appropriate as my husband Jim received a gift in the mail from his friend Frank in Illinois...a hunting license. He invited him to come back to Illinois to hunt on his farm in November. Jim was so thrilled and surprised.
So, I decided to feature a fall cup that has a hunter on it-perfect-for Miss Spencer's Teacup Thursday.

I've had this cup and saucer for years and just found it again. It's made by Royal Albert and is called

Hunting in Canada. It has two ducks in the inner cup. I always like an image inside the cup!

I made this little quilt and wanted to use it with the moon theme here. It hangs over a vintage oak primary school chair.

We have been enjoying the last of the season's wonderful tomatoes~the small ones from our garden and the very last cucumber. The large ones are from our favorite Italian veggie stand. Bacon and tomato sandwiches tomorrow night! I also tried a delicious baked apple dish from my dear friend Wilhelmina.

I won this darling SPRING embroidery pattern from sweet Fay at Simply.....I'm so excited as I love to do embroidery work and won't this be a fun project to work on during the winter months.
