Dolly Thursday

Dolly Thursday! Today, I was talking about Tasha Tudor's kitchens for her dolls. She had the most fantastic minis for her dolls, but I epecially love her kitchen goodies. This is my little Annabelle in her little kitchen. She is 10 1/2" tall and her minis are pretty much 1:12 scale.

Back to Annabelle's kitchen. I love the little set of pottery pieces I found for her. They are perfect. I love her crocks too.

The pie safe was a gift from LaVonne last fall. She found it at Hobby Lobby.

This wonderful little cast iron stove was also a gift from LaVonne. Don't I have the best dolly friends? It is a great stove and just the right size for Annabelle and friends.

A few more goodies in her kitchen.....

I do love her quilt quilt rack. I made the quilt awhile back. It's a cheater quilt but looks so cool. Such a great tiny print. I also love her basket full of veggies...a nice harvest.

My next dollhouse adventure is for larger dolls. The scale will be 1:6. It isn't as easy to find things that size, so the hunt is on! I will probably collect things for a bit and have a large dollhouse/bookcase/china holder  built along a wall in my tea room. I have to wait for awhile but it's all fun. 

World Doll Day

Who knew that today was World Doll Day? I have never heard of it but my friend in Vermont, sent me the link this week. World Doll Day is fun to explore and learn more about it.

Some of my larger dolls decided to have a little tea party this morning to celebrate the day! Don't they look fine, all dressed up?

Prim and proper little ladies!

This is my latest doll. My next project is to make her a proper dress. I am currently working on some 4th of July sewing projects for an exchange. When those are finished, I hope to create some doll clothes.

A few weeks ago, one of my Tasha Tudor friend, Julia, sent me this darling china tea set for my dolls. It's so pretty and just the right size.

This is Mildred Seeley pictured on the front of one of her many books. She passed away in 2001. She was quite the doll collector, doll maker and author. She started World Doll Day in 1986. She was very kind to just encourage doll people to give dolls away...to children or other adults. She was very sharing with it all and it was fun to read about her and World Doll Day.

Ebay and Etsy offer many of her lovely doll plates for sale. You will also find some of her many books on both sites if you are interested in them. I have a few on my wish list! Enjoy!

Half Doll Pinchushions

Another busy busy week! I am going to a quilt show this morning and off to a quilt retreat on Sunday. My dad's big 88th birthday party is tomorrow night and my daughter Gina is coming home to visit tonight. My projects are ready for the retreat, so just need to finish packing my clothes and getting my food things ready. I get the fresh things when I get down to the coast.

We are expecting a strong April storm today, It is calm right now...you know what they say about the calm before the storm.

Jimmy found these three beauties at a sale last week. I am in love with half dolls, especially the pincushions. These really are in great shape and are so pretty. I can keep them if I wish. I am just enjoying them for a few days and will decide later. Our next show isn't until October, so I have a while. Temptation!

Saturday

I saw this photo on one of my FB sites an it just looks so spring like! I had to share it. We had such a pretty day yesterday...60 degrees and some sunshine. I had the windows open for some fresh air and it was so nice.

I haven't been blogging much. I love it blogging, but it just seems like I don't have the time to do much lately. Ever since my health issues last August, I haven't been able to get back to normal in lots of area. I am feeling so much better now, so hopefully, this spring will bring more restoration in many areas.

I posted some photos of my little Irish doll collection on my Tasha group on Thursday so wanted to share them here. I do have a bit of Irish in me and just LOVE St Patrick's Day. Not sure how I will handle the dinner this year as I can't have corned beef or green cabbage. YIKES!

This first doll is an Avon doll from the 1990's. Her name is Colleen and she really is quite nice for a mass produced doll.

This little wee miss is a clothes pin doll that I found on Etsy. I think she is quite charming.

I'v had this little guy for awhile. He is all dressed in wool and tweed and he just looks Irish to me. Not sure where he is really from, but he seems quite happy living with the St Patty's things.

This little elf looks like he is a member of the Irish, so he likes to come out at this time of the year.

Yep, I am a nut about all things Irish. It's just fun. My youngest daughter has traveled to Ireland. Oh, I wish I could go someday.

Happy Saturday and don't forget to spring ahead tonight with you clocks...daylight savings time begins. I do wish they would just pick one time and stick to it. I don't see the purpose of this anymore. 

Dolly Time for Thursday Treasures

One week from today will be celebrating Thanksgiving with friends and family! It is hard to believe! I just chatted with my daughter Gina in Seattle and she is excited to come home for the holiday. We were planning some fun times....we will watch Little Women and snuggle up by the woodstove and drink tea and be lazy. We will decorate my dad's apartment for Christmas on Saturday, so that will be fun!

I haven't posted anything for Thursday Treasures for quite some time, so thought it might be fun to so so today. I don't have any Thanksgiving dolls, but do love this little wooden beaded Pilgrim couple that I found a few years ago. They are only 3-4" tall and charming.

A few weeks ago, I discovered this charming book on dolls from the 1950's at the all city garage sale. It was too sweet to leave there. The graphics are wonderful.

Awhile back, I found this charming china head at our flea market from the man who we purchased many Tasha Tudor prints. His wife was such a doll collector and their children have no desire to keep her dolls. Lucky me! He wasn't sure who made the doll but thought it was by someone who also did china painting and he thought she bought it in the 1950's.

I found a name on the back of the doll so I know it was made by Grace Lathrop. She was a doll maker in Oregon. I haven't been able to find much information about her.

I did find this beautiful painted lady on Etsy also by Grace Lathrop and added it to my collection. It is lovely.

Grace Elizabeth, as I named her, is 22 inches tall and is in very nice condition. I just love her and she is very happy living in her new home with the other dolls.

Jimmy found this interesting doll at another sale. She isn't in great condition, but she is so different.
She is a mechanical wind up doll. Most of her body is metal and she does walk when wound up.
The poor thing doesn't have a very sweet face, but she is fascinating.

I think I have dolly fever or maybe I should admit, it's chronic! I do love dolls. It's so fun to share the dolls with my Tasha Tudor group on Thursdays. We all get to play dolls once a week!

Thursday Treasures

Today for Thursday Treasures, I have a lot of fun things to share from last weekend. We actually went to two events and sure had a fun time shopping! The weather was quite nice for outside shopping. It's not fun when the temps reach up to the 90's! It was overcast yet quite warm.

The garage sale was just across the river into Washington, only about a half hour from home.
They get a very good turnout at this event.

I was ready to go and this is how I found Jimmy! I just had to laugh.

This shot was taken back in Oregon at the Expo show. I was fascinated with this booth and it's rolling showcase booth. It was drawing a great deal of attention.

In the summer, this show has a huge outside area. We no longer exhibit at the summer Expo. We will be back for the October date.

The sun popped out a bit right before we left.

Jimmy was packing out his goods...those are snowshoes over his shoulder. He sell every pair he can find!

When we get back home, we always enjoy a share and tell and spread out the goodies! He was quite pleased with his finds!

I just love this old box! It may have to stay around.....

The black dolly is fabulous. I love her dress and she will fit in quite well with our booth .

Older copper molds are always welcome! Jimmy also found 4 fishing rods to sell, so he was quite happy about that.

Now, for my goodies! What a different look, heh? That's the fun about each of us selling different things. Fun Fun Fun!

Was I ever pleased to find 4 Holly Hobbie dolls! Most of mine have sold and they are such great sellers. There's a wonderful piece of HH fabric on the left side...a great find!

Old quilt blocks and a wonderful clay cookie mold. I will be keeping this one! I have never seen a quilt pattern one.

A few goodies for the tea collection! It's a real treat to find a pink luster teacup out here in the NW.
I was happy to find the little Japanese teapot to send to a friend's dolly. Ida will be happy. The small teacups are child sized from Queen Elizabeth's coronation. They will be joining my collection...so sweet!

Look at this charming rag doll pattern by McCalls! She has very cute clothes patterns too.

I am always happy to find some ephemera. Most of these were taken from a cute children's book.

My most favorite find was this Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt top. I love the colors and it's nicely done. It was fun to find a top made with hexies, as I'm into that right now.

And look at this gorgeous piece! It's an embroidery hoop that attaches to a table top. We think it's made of maple and it's so pretty and in very good condition.

You just screw it on and off. Jim wants me to keep it and I think it would be a wonderful piece to have! Thank you Jimmy.

Well, I did have a great time but it was hard on my old sore feet. Just a month left to see the doctor.

I missed my Tea Time Tuesday this week as I was sewing for two days at our church, making bags for a missionary trip. It was fun.
