A visitor from Montana

What a visit we have had! WOW...an amazing week filled with fun and
friends and just time to be together. I can't really explain the joy
this friendship withLaVonne has brought into my life. I could have never imagined that this would really happen to me at this point in my life.
An entire week of adventure-I think that's the best word for this past week. We got to see friends in Bainbridge
Island WA and had tea with new friends in Olympia WA. We went to thrift
stores, craft stores, the bins, fun restaurants, an amazing grocery
store,Troutdale shops, played dolls and even attended the antique show. The list is LONG!
The laughs, oh the laugh! It's been so much fun, just fun. A great break and a great time to build our friendship and learn even more about each other.
Thanks LaVonne for just being you. I love ya lots. Come back soon.

A weekend to remember!

I picked Angie up Friday night and we had a fun evening.I think we talked until 1:30AM!
We were on the road to Poulsbo WA by nine and off on our road trip. Got up to Bainsbridge
Island around 12:30 PM for Clarice's book signing....WREN'S BAY. It was
held at a darling church and was so fun. We had six Tasha gals there so
we definitely have a West Coast group coming along!
Spent a few hours shopping in Poulsbo.
Such cute shops-even a quilt shoppe!Met Clarice and her family and
friends at 6:00 PM and had the most wonderful dinner. A tapas dinner,my
favorite being the goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. Oh
my....yum yum yum.
Sunday morning Angie B invited us to her wonderful homestead
home for brunch. We had such a lovely time and wow...great food again.
I can't believe how well we ate ALL weekend. Enjoyed seeing Angie's
property, workshops and sheep.
We returned to Poulsbo for a bit
more shopping before heading home. I found a cute little metal
stove...perfect for displays and a fun thing to take to the retreats.
I
also received my Autumn exchange gift today from Brian. So
pretty...packed in hydrangeas and fat quarters! What could be better?
I was flying high all day and had a hard time trying to settle back down into reality.
Getting ready for LaVonne's visit on Sunday.

Another week has slipped away....

I can't believe it...where do these weeks go? I have been cleaning
house, decorating, planning a trip to see Clarice of Storybook Woods
for her book signing, thinking aboutLaVonne's visit and actually did some sewing. Jim has been gone all week hunting and fishing, so have had the run of the house.
I finished my little Gingerbread quilt and am happy with it. It will be fun to hang at the quilt retreat in November.
Peggy and I met in Hood River to meet with the sales director. The hotel was a bit disappointing
and the cost is too high. I had high hopes that it would be the answer
and a fun home for our retreats. Sigh.....we'll go back and look at Washougal.
I was looking at THE QUILTED CROW tonight. I love their fabric. I'm drooling over this one! I want it, want it, want it!

A bit of sewing too!

A busy day...boy, it sure slipped by quickly.
Clarice called this
morning and we talked for 30 minutes. I can't wait to see her and to
view her book. It should be a very fun weekend.
Another Tashette from Olympia WA wants to get together when Miss LaVonneski comes out. That would be so nice to meet. I'm working on that.
Cleaned
out the fridge and all the cupboards in the kitchen and I even went
through the cupboards and took another load of stuff to Goodwill.
I did get some sewing in this afternoon. I hope to finish the Gingerbread quilt later this week.
Time for bed. Will be looking at hotels tomorrow for the retreat.

Autumn

O sun and skies and clouds of June,
and flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour
October's bright blue weather.
*******Helen Hunt Jackson

I found this quote in Mary Mason Campbell's book THE NEW ENGLAND BUTT'RY SHELF ALMANAC which was illustrated by Tasha Tudor. I love the book as it covers each month of the year complete with recipes.

I
finally have most of my house decorated for fall. There is always so
much cleaning to do at this time of the year after the fun months of
summer and doors wide open.
A busy week ahead with retreat things and a trip to see Clarice for her book signing.

I also got some very fun news...LaVonne
is hoping to come for a visit later this month. Yes, a grand month. I
love October. It's also the month my first born was born almost 34
years ago!

Hitty....

I get side tracked on the internet all the time. Somehow, I ended up on a page about the doll and the book HITTY! Have you ever read the book? It's wonderful, especially if you enjoy history and like the New England area.
I never read the book when I was a child, so it was a great adventure for me as an adult.
I
found a Hitty doll at a doll show last year. I did finish her bed quilt
but like all my other dolls, she only has one outfit to wear. Shame
shame shame on me!
There's a miniature show in Portland this
weekend. Annabelle has been begging me to go. She wants me to do some
Christmas shopping for her friends.

Sweet little mug

I found this little china mug at an estate sale. It's so sweet and will
live in my tea room now. I wonder who owned it long ago? I think I need
to go to tea or have a tea. Portland no longer has a wonderful tea
shoppe...sad.I miss the Green Door that was inTroutdale . October is
here now and it really feels like fall today.Time to decorate and bring
out the pumpkins. I saw a great idea for making a fabric
pumpkin...maybe I need to make some.
