Pretty Fall Days

It has been just a beautiful fall here in Oregon! The days have been warm and sunny and windy!

After days of strong east winds, the trees are getting a little more sparse.  Oh, but there are lots of leaves left to fall!

The wind piles the leaves up against Jim's cottage...they are piling up.!

I decided to do a bit of baking to enjoy a bit of tea today. Something for me and something for Jimmy.

I've been experimenting with almond flour. The tea bread is a pumpkin spice almond flour bread.
It's very moist and has a lot of flavor. It only has 2-3 T of honey, no sugar. I had a 1/2 can of pumpkin, so made Jim some soft drop pumpkin cookies with an old fashion butter cream frosting. YUMMY.

I have had these pumpkin mugs for over 40 years. I got them at the Oregon State fair when we were first married. I have used them every year.

My friend LaVonne gifted me with this darling acorn teapot. I brewed a chai tea by Stash-mild and delightful.

Our weatherman says we will have about 5 more days of this lovely weather. 

Pear Time!

It's almost fall and it's pear time!!! I am putting together Tea Time Tuesday with Dolly Time Thursday. It's actually Friday, but I had my little tea yesterday.

I adore this beautiful new teacup. It's a Royal Albert called Pear Harvest from the Orchard Collection. A great Etsy find.

It's so pretty with my tea! Why does tea taste better in a bone china cup and saucer????

This is a new tea for me and I really like it. It's a white tea, so it has flavor yet it has a delicate taste.

It's a pretty mix too! I am not a tea snob, but I do enjoy loose tea.

I found this set of pressed glass cream and sugar a few weeks ago at a flea market. Can you see the pears? No one wants these treasures anymore...only $5 for the set.

The fresh pears are so yummy now! Enjoying a couple different types.

 Isn't this dolly cute! I love these fruit and veggie dolls. They are from the 1950's and were made in Italy. I recently found one at a flea market and was so delighted to add one to my collection. She is charming.

She still has her tags...Made in Italy!

Fall is on it's way! It will be here officially next week....yeah! Enjoy.

What a sweet letter! So personal and very sweet.

She had the tea cup safely wrapped up in a separate gift wrapped box. Oh my!

Look at this most beautiful tea cup! The color is stunning and the bird design on the china is just lovely. It's quite large too...I have never seen a tea cup this size. Perfect for a yummy cup of tea.

Lea included two kitchen towel in my favorite fall colors and a most special wooden spoon that says THANKFUL. How perfect is that for this time of the year?

In her not to me, Lea said she is not a tea drinker. She sure picked out great teas for me. YUMMY.

I adore this pattern on the little pumpkin paper napkins. How perfect.

Oh, I do love this little kit. It is filled with little note pads and sticky notes. Don't we all need these? And to receive such pretty ones.

I was really looking for some chocolate and there was nothing in the house. I was so surprised to find the Russell Stover treats! My hubby is after the ginger snaps...lol.

You have to see the gorgeous bar of autumn soap and glass soap dish. I just love this set.

Tea Time Tuesday #173

The wind is blowing hard again! Most of the leaves will be gone after three days of the old east wind. I took a break this afternoon and had a little tea break.

On the last day of the antique show, Jim bought me this wonderful German spice cabinet. I just love it! I think JIm liked it as much as I did. It will be our souvenir from the show.

I found this wonderful turkey mug at the all city garage sale this past weekend. It's so pretty. It's marked Queen's and Thanksgiving on the bottom of the mug.

I had these little cookies with my tea. A lady baked them and told me they were called German Peppernuts or Pfeffernussen. They are wonderful. I have never had them and think I need to bake some when I do my Christmas baking.

The pattern is a pretty one and a bit different from my Johnson Brothers patterns. I love the sweet  flowers.

The sunrise was just spectacular this morning. I wish the colors would have shown on my camera more true than they did.

Tea Time Tuesday #171

So the calendar says it is FALL, however, the temps are to be in the 80's the next few days. This photo is from Pinterest and I just love the soft purple colors.

I didn't feel well today after being up most of the night. Jim took over for me as our daughter was to have a medical procedure. When they got to the doctor's office, they were told it had been canceled.
It's rescheduled for the end of October.

I just had a quick cup of tea this afternoon after A nap. I love this purple and gold fall tea cup. I think I found it last year. You can't see it too clearly, but the pumpkin is a pretty purple velvet fabric pumpkin.

I love the soft colors and leaves on this! The cup is an English teacup made by the Foley Company.

I enjoyed a cup of black almond tea which we bought up in Poulsbo WA at the Grand Market. Sweet and simple for the afternoon.

Tea Time Tuesday #170

Happy Tea Time Tuesday! The weather cooled off a little today after another 90 degree day, so I felt like it was ok to have a little hot tea today.

Yesterday, I got my package of honey from my friend LaVonne! It's from her farm in Montana...Serenity Sheep Farm. It's a wonderful place and she must have happy bees because this honey is just the best! I decided to see if I could find a recipe for a healthy goodie for tea, using honey. I had some almond flour, so I went on the hunt. I am playing around with almond flour. It's fun to try something very different. I didn't want to buy a big amount until I decided it was something I wanted to use. Bob's Red Mill is always a good place to start.

The dough went together easily and formed a ball after mixing by hand.

I did make the biscuits thinner than the recipe suggested as I wanted to see if they would be more like a cookie. It worked. It only makes 12 cookies or 7 thicker biscuits. That's ok for the 2 people who live here!

I also wanted to try the beautiful tea that my Gina brought back from her trip to Bali. This white tipped oolong tea is mild and very nice! Gina loves deer and this box was to support the endangered deer in Taiwan.

It's a loose tea, so you need your strainer! I love to use a pretty one. This is one of my favorite brown transfer ware cup and saucers. Fall is coming! I love slipping into it at this time of the year.

This was a bargain teapot/coffee pot that I found this summer. I just adore it. It had been in a family for a long time. The lady said no one wanted it...so sad. She sold it to me for $12.50. I told her it was going to a good home!

Two little cookies with a touch of honey. No butter for me these days. The cookies are tasty, but not too sweet.

I got the results from my test...precancerous but no cancer at this time. Another colonoscopy will be needed in 3 years, but that's ok. It's a life savor. I need to make a few more diet changes...more legumes and whole grains. No red meat or pork, but I am not eating that now anyway. I am thankful.

Here's the recipe if you would like to give it a try...

2 1/2 c almond flour
1/2 t salt
1/2 t baking soda
1/4 c coconut oil
2 eggs
1 T honey

Mix the flour, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl.
Mix the oil, eggs and honey in a large bowl.
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix by hand until it forms a dough ball
Roll the dough between 2 sheets of parchment paper. Add a bit of flour if its sticks or appears too sticky.
Roll to 3/4" for thicker biscuits.....thinner if you want them to be more like cookies.
Transfer by metal spatula to a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly browned

Makes 7 biscuits or 12 cookies
