Expo Showtime Again

Once again, it's time for the Antique and Collectable show at the Expo center. I got it all set up on Friday and we had a GREAT selling day. Gina drove down from Everett late on Friday night to help Jim on Saturday. They also had a great selling day! I am so thankful for the good sales. We've had a lot of expenses since summer, so this is quite a big help.

Enjoy the pictures of our goods, I actually didn't get to take photos until Late Friday. I didn't get the photos taken until quite late in the afternoon.

Tea Time Tuesday

Happy Tea Time Tuesday! I am sharing something different from my usual fall tea items. My sister Debbie recently went to Scotland. She has been Pen Pals with her friend since the 6th grade. Her friend's son was getting married, so Debbie and her hubby Bill and daughter Amanda were invited to attend. Debbie and I have been doing some DNA testing and we are more Scottish and Irish than we thought, so it's pretty exciting.

Time for a cup of tea this afternoon!

This cup and saucer are mind and I almost got rid of it last fall. Now, I am so glad that I decided to keep it. It's a Royal Staffordshire bone china cup and I love the name.....Bonnie Scotland. It features the Graham Clan. I love the colors.

Debbie brought me home a beautiful wool scarf. This is my family name...MacPherson and this plaid is one that was worn while hunting. Deb said it was one of the few shops that carried wool scarves from Scotland and not imported from China...pretty sad.

I guess they hd shortbread everywhere they went, so she had to bring some back. Jimmy will get to enjoy this treat!

Isn't the plaid pretty! I love the colors. I need to get a warm winter coat as I am going back east in December...I think I need to find one to wear with my new scarf!

I collect smashed pennies, so she had to bring me back one! What a surprise.

It was such a pretty fall day today, even with the strong east wind blowing. I just needed a sweet cup of tea to drink in my tea cup. Stash makes a yummy one and I did enjoy it.

Hope your fall is going well. It's been a busy one here. Jim will be exhibiting at the Expo Antique and Collectible show this weekend. I will be setting up his booth on Friday and Gina will be coming on Saturday to help him on Saturday. He has some nephews lined up for extra help too. I always go in fresh Sunday night to help take down the booth.

Monday Made

My friend LaVonne has been here in Oregon for over a week and has to return to Montana tomorrow. She splits her visit between me and her daughter. She brings some of her dolls on these annual trips and we often have some dolly fun with them. I decided to make her Hitty and my Hitty a new fall dress. Here they are in the tea room with their new frocks. Hitty of MT is also wearing her cute shawl which Hitty Autumn was really admiring!

I ordered a pattern on Ebay by a Tasha Tudor friend who is on my Take Peace FB page. It is tiny, as Hitty is only about 6 1/2" tall. I am trying to learn how to be successful with doll clothes making.

Setting in little sleeves is quite a challenge.

Here's my Hitty showing off the newly made clothes. I really like the little tucks in the skirt.

An orange ribbon just made the dresses ready for fall.

Here are the girls having a little tea. I also made the little quilt on the quilt rack.

Hitty Autumn with her tiny Hitty from the UFDC conference last year. LaVoone and I took a class and had to make the tiny dresses.

This is LaVonne's Hitty with her little tiny doll. Gosh we had a great time.

Tea Time Tuesday #171

So the calendar says it is FALL, however, the temps are to be in the 80's the next few days. This photo is from Pinterest and I just love the soft purple colors.

I didn't feel well today after being up most of the night. Jim took over for me as our daughter was to have a medical procedure. When they got to the doctor's office, they were told it had been canceled.
It's rescheduled for the end of October.

I just had a quick cup of tea this afternoon after A nap. I love this purple and gold fall tea cup. I think I found it last year. You can't see it too clearly, but the pumpkin is a pretty purple velvet fabric pumpkin.

I love the soft colors and leaves on this! The cup is an English teacup made by the Foley Company.

I enjoyed a cup of black almond tea which we bought up in Poulsbo WA at the Grand Market. Sweet and simple for the afternoon.

Dolly Thursday

Happy Dolly Thursday! Meet Miss Flora Erika, my newest dolly. She has a very interesting story! I absolutely love her and she turned out to be a darling.

Last month, when I went up north for our Pacific NW Tasha Tudor Society gathering, Joyce took us over to her neighbor Erika's house. Erika was selling some of her dolls and I fell in love with this German Armand Marseilla Floradora doll. Her arms needed to be repaired. Erika had new arms but never repaired the doll. She was selling her at quite a bargain price and of course, I had to buy her.

The next day, we went to the Bellevue Doll Show in WA. I bought a headless doll because she had a lovely dress that I was sure would fit my new little lady. Little did I realize that this doll had the wire and the two metal tabs that I needed to fix my doll! I have never seen a doll with this type of arm. What are the chances that this body had the parts that I needed? WOW!

The arms just needed to have a tiny hole punched in the leather and attached to the body with a wire and secured with little metal button like tabs.

I used my quilting tool to make the holes in the arms and I used my little jewelry making tools to bend the wire.

Her she is with her new arms! Yes, i know she is not 100% original, but I am ok with that.

Here's a good look at the little metal button like tabs.

She has a very sweet face with an open mouth and tiny teeth.

She is looking better with her chemise top on now...more like a little dolly lady.

The two piece dress is amazing. When I ironed it, I really got a good look at the workmanship. Lots of very well done parts and stitches.

Isn't she looking fine? I think she looks like a school teacher. I named her Flora Erika....Flora for her Floradona name and Erika for the lady who sold her to me.

She has her books on her lap!.

I took over the posting reminder on my Tasha Tudor Take Peace FB page today for my friend Suzanne. It will be my job to set up Dolly Thursday every week now. I chose this photo today to introduce Dolly Thursday. Since it is September, i thought this was so darling and perfect for the day.

PS....I had a pain free good night's sleep last night! Thankful, very thankful.

Tea Time Tuesday #170

Happy Tea Time Tuesday! The weather cooled off a little today after another 90 degree day, so I felt like it was ok to have a little hot tea today.

Yesterday, I got my package of honey from my friend LaVonne! It's from her farm in Montana...Serenity Sheep Farm. It's a wonderful place and she must have happy bees because this honey is just the best! I decided to see if I could find a recipe for a healthy goodie for tea, using honey. I had some almond flour, so I went on the hunt. I am playing around with almond flour. It's fun to try something very different. I didn't want to buy a big amount until I decided it was something I wanted to use. Bob's Red Mill is always a good place to start.

The dough went together easily and formed a ball after mixing by hand.

I did make the biscuits thinner than the recipe suggested as I wanted to see if they would be more like a cookie. It worked. It only makes 12 cookies or 7 thicker biscuits. That's ok for the 2 people who live here!

Into the oven....

Out of the oven....

I also wanted to try the beautiful tea that my Gina brought back from her trip to Bali. This white tipped oolong tea is mild and very nice! Gina loves deer and this box was to support the endangered deer in Taiwan.

It's a loose tea, so you need your strainer! I love to use a pretty one. This is one of my favorite brown transfer ware cup and saucers. Fall is coming! I love slipping into it at this time of the year.

This was a bargain teapot/coffee pot that I found this summer. I just adore it. It had been in a family for a long time. The lady said no one wanted it...so sad. She sold it to me for $12.50. I told her it was going to a good home!

Two little cookies with a touch of honey. No butter for me these days. The cookies are tasty, but not too sweet.

I hope you had time for a cup of tea today.

I got the results from my test...precancerous but no cancer at this time. Another colonoscopy will be needed in 3 years, but that's ok. It's a life savor. I need to make a few more diet changes...more legumes and whole grains. No red meat or pork, but I am not eating that now anyway. I am thankful.

Here's the recipe if you would like to give it a try...

2 1/2 c almond flour
1/2 t salt
1/2 t baking soda
1/4 c coconut oil
2 eggs
1 T honey

Mix the flour, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl.
Mix the oil, eggs and honey in a large bowl.
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix by hand until it forms a dough ball
Roll the dough between 2 sheets of parchment paper. Add a bit of flour if its sticks or appears too sticky.
Roll to 3/4" for thicker biscuits.....thinner if you want them to be more like cookies.
Transfer by metal spatula to a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly browned

Makes 7 biscuits or 12 cookies

Monday Monday....

Well, the dreaded colonoscopy is over. I think I am done with medical tests for awhile. It has been such a year of it all. I try not to focus on it and am so thankful that the doctors have been able to keep me healthy. We shall see what the results of this test will be shortly. I have to admit that I am nervous.

My sweet daughter Gina left me a fun package to open when it was all over. She called it.."The Post Poo Pampering Package"! So fun.

It was filled with all kinds of fun good smelling things for ladies. New products for the old mama to try. I was so thrilled with all the goodies.

I came through the test just fine. The prep is barbaric as far as I am concerned. The drugs they give you during the test are great and you wake up refreshed. I did fine and am doing fine, until night time. So I guess I am one of the ones that it takes longer to bounce back...sigh. No sleep for the past two nights. I tried some different eating patterns today but if I have another night of tummy aches, I will call the doctor in the morning.

It's been so hot here. We hit another 90 degree day and the forest fires continue up the gorge from our home. People are still evacuated after a week. We have a lot of ash to still clean up on our cars, BBQ's, lawn furniture...it's amazing. We finally saw blue sky on Saturday after a week of grey skies.
I feel so bad for people closer to the fire. Fires, floods, hurricanes and earthquakes. It's been a difficult time for people. It warms your heart to hear of stories of people helping people.

Isn't it hard to believe that it's been 16 years since 911? A day will be always remember.
