Time Away and A Finished Project!

Had a great little mini vacation with my husband in Central Oregon. Jim really enjoyed his fishing! I enjoyed some time alone and got a project finished. I bought a set of Sunbonnet Sue large quilt blocks awhile back but one was never completed. I  have been hoping to do the embroidery work on it so I would have the six blocks. They are all so cute and it will be a fun quilt to finish up.

So here's what I had to start with...

Details added.... and she's done. I think she'll blend in with the others and hopefully no one will know the difference. I still need to add centers to some of the daisies, remove the markings, square up the blocks and press them well. I think a fun multicolored repro 1940's print will be fun to add for sashings and a border to tie it all together. They just make me happy when I look at the blocks and I had to rescue them-right?

I'm sorry to miss Miss Spenser's Teacup Thursday this week. We didn't get home until this afternoon and it was too late to post. I'll be back next week! 

Back at the Deschutes for Jimmy

Well, we're not on the Rogue River as this cool poster says, but the Deschutes River! Just here for a few days again and this time it's for my Jimmy. It's an early Father's Day gift as he actually likes to fish a lake up here as well as some evening fishing on the river. The weather was great yesterday-a bit cloudy today.
We're staying at his friend's house on the Deschutes named La Casa. Probably won't be visiting my friends this time so brought reading material and some hand sewing.
The internet connection is really iffy here, so this is a short post before it goes off.

The Journey of Ladye Lydia Rose....

Last December for St Nicholas Day, my dear husband Jim, gave me the gift of a commissioned handmade doll by Christine Crocker of Deerfield Farmhouse. I was thrilled beyond belief and so the journey of my doll began. Christine is a master doll maker and a member of our Tasha Tudor group who also lives in Oregon. She sent me a sweet letter telling me about the doll and asked me a few questions about what type of her little ladyes I might wish to own. I only had a few wishes and really left the creating up to her.

Christine sent me a little sneak peek and let me know that she was almost done with my doll and the little ladye would be traveling to Troutdale via the Post Office this week. I knew from the pictures that I was absolutely going to love this dolly. The box arrived on Wednesday!

Christine sent me a link to some names that might be appropriate for my doll and I finally decided on her name before I opened the box~LADY LYDIA ROSE. Roses are blooming now in Oregon and it's Rose Festival time, so I thought Rose would be a perfect middle name for her. I liked the way Ladye Lydia just flowed. I came home to find a bouquet of beautiful roses and this note from Jim...♡

So, it was time to let the little ladye out of her traveling box...she was so lovingly and carefully packed! Can you believe all this packing came out of that box?

This is how she was all wrapped up! Christine had tucked in some roses too...I was so happy when I saw them thinking that she didn't know that Ladye Lydia Rose would appreciate the roses!

Of course, a sweet and tender letter from Ladye Christine that will be kept forever with my doll.

Introducing Lady Lydia Rose......

She has the most gentle face and the cutest little feet. Don't you just love her hat? Her dress is made from very special old fabrics and lace with great attention to detail. I did ask Christine to add a little pocket for a pair of miniature scissors, as she has to be quite a skilled little seamstress to live in the tea room with all the other dolls.

I am so honored to have this doll. Christine Crocker is an unbelievable artist who puts so much love and joy into her creations. I will love and cherish Ladye Lydia Rose forever and hope to pass her on to someone very special someday. Thank you dear friend for such a treasure! How can I ever thank my dear husband for this gift of a lifetime? Thank you dear Jim. My heart and love belong to you....

Teacup Thursday #61 and the Queen

Last weekend Jim and I went to some delightful estate sales. I fell in love with this vase and when we went back for the 1/2 price sale, it was still there. Now it lives in our home. I thought it would be just perfect for my Teacup Thursday this week to honor the Queen of England's 60th Jubilee which came to a close on Tuesday. So, this wonderful vase is taking us to London to see the Queen! Here's the back side of the vase with all it's wonderful colors. I love it!

So I thought it would be so fun to bring out some of my various queen things and make a little display of it all. So fun to share it with my blogger friends on this the Queen's 60th Jubilee.

I bought this wonderful teapot at a favorite little gift shoppe years ago-The Green Door-and sadly it no longer exists. The teapot is from the Queen's 25th Anniversary. I like it because it has silver decorations instead of the usual gold trim.

I have enjoyed collecting a variety of teacups celebrating the various queens and hope to find more!

I think this one is so pretty because it has roses and even some around the inside of the cup.

Time for some goodies....bring on the teatime treats! I found some little cupcakes with red white and blue sprinkles. Fresh strawberries, lemon cakes, and various frosted l brownies. Oh oh, not diet food!

Here's another sweet item we found at the estate sale last weekend. A great bowl from the King's coronation of 1937. It has a great decal of the royal state couch in the center. I didn't have anything like this in my collection, so I was delighted. The blue hanky is also from the King's coronation....charming.

The Strawberry Full Moon

It's strawberry time in Oregon. We just finished up our second batch of fresh local berries tonight  and will have to head to the berry stand tomorrow for more! As my Jimmy says, "You can't get 'em in January!"

I don't know how they are so yummy and sweet as we haven't had an abundance of sunshine. I like them best just cut up in a bowl, but these treats sure look delicious.

My friends on the east coast often talk about Moon Pies. I have never had one but found that they do make a Strawberry Moon Pie!

How perfect as it's a full moon on Monday and one of it's several names is the STRAWBERRY FULL MOON. Other names are: blooming, rose, lotus, windy, green corn, planting, moon of horses, and moon when June berries are ripe.
