Tasha Tudor First Friday Book Review~FIRST DELIGHTS

It's time for June's Tasha Tudor First Friday Book Review! Jimmy reminded me that it was time for another review last night! I'm glad he's on top of things. This sweet book is one I had forgotten about.

FIRST DELIGHTS is a sweet book with adorable illustrations about a little farm girl names Sally. She lives on a farm...that shouldn't surprise us as Tasha often uses her love of her farm as the subject of her books. Sally goes through an entire year, experiencing each of the four seasons, learning from her five senses.

The book was originally published in 1966 by Platt and Munk of NY. It was a hardback and was 32 pages long. The illustrations are simple but charming.

Sally smells the daffodils....such a springy soft yellow.

I love autumn and here she is greeting fall....red apples, geese flying overhead and then she slips into winter.

She hears sleigh bells as the horse pulls the sleigh through the snow!

Wood smoke and cold air....shiny Christmas bells!

The book was republished in 1988 by the Penguin Group. I like the cover on the original.

You may have noticed the corgis in some of the pictures. She has included a page with corgi puppies which is just too cute.

At the beginning of the book, Tasha has illustrated a white owl and the Alfred Lord Tennyson quote is give-"Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits."

I enjoy these book reviews as it's quite fun to reread and learn more about each book. Thanks for reading my review.

I'll try to get a copy of that book for my granddaughters who live on a farm. I love Tasha Tudor so I may take a peek through it before I give it to them!
