Dolly Thursday and Thursday Finds

It's Dolly Thursday on my Tasha Tudor group again, so I wanted to share this sweet little miss. She is a reproduction doll, but I think she is so beautiful. Her face is darling. She was left in a back room at an estate sale last fall and I just couldn't leave her there, so she came home with me. She was also 1/2 price.

Her dress is sweet and she even came with her little locket. I haven't given her a name yet. She is holding a few friends for the season.

I stopped at an antique store on the way home from the beach last week. I found a few fun things for Easter gifts and a few goodies for me. I love tin dishes and containers. I found this sweet little sugar canister in the basement.

I collect plastic rattles and Easter animals, so this duck will be added to the gang. I think he was quite pleased to join the group.

I always look for vintage books from the late 1800's and early 1900's. This one just has the perfect look.

Someone started to do the embroidery work on this fun little panel and never finish. I think it will make a darling little fun pillow once I get it completed.

Don't you love the ducky?

This is where I found the cute little Beatrix Potter trio that I shared on Tuesday. I just love anything Peter Rabbit.

I think we are actually going to have a sunny day tomorrow! I am excited to see the sun. What a wet and dreary spring we have had.
I was supposed to join in the Tea Cup Exchange reveal today, however, my exchange partner is having a hard time and was delayed in getting my package out. That's just fine, as I understand. It will be fun to share it when it does arrive.

Tea Time Tuesday #158

Happy Belated Easter Greetings to my blogger friends! I was kind of shocked when I saw the date on my last blog post...April 7th! WOW! SO much has happened in my life that I will have to share over the next few days. I was able to go to a quilt show, a quilt retreat, we celebrated my dad's 88th birthday and Easter sort of skipped by me as I got sick the night before Easter Sunday....

So, on with the blogging! Today is Tea Time Tuesday and I will share a bit of my Peter Rabbit china by Wedgewood. I have been collecting it for years, just bit by bit which is fun. I was able to find a few more cup and saucers this spring. One of these years, I hope to have a Peter Rabbit tea.

When I returned home to day from my quilting group, I had a cup of tea. I can't eat the yummy cake you see anymore, but it is a family tradition and I still make them for my family.

There's nothing like a cuppa in the afternoon to pick you up! It's even better when it's in a charming teacup.

This is a Blarney Stone. I feature them every Easter because they are a family tradition. My grandmother made the on St Pat's and they were always green. My mom changed the tradition to an Easter dessert and used colored frostings to look like Easter eggs. They are just a white cupcake, frosted all around and rolled in coconut or chopped pecans. They are really rich, loaded with sugar but they are yummy. I have made tiny ones for baby showers or bridal showers which are really cute.

On my way home from my quilt retreat, I stopped at a favorite antique shoppe. I was delighted to find Floppsy, Moppsy, and Cottontail to go along with my little Beatrix Potter animals. So cute!

Over the years, I have found several egg cups. I thought they would look pretty cute with a plastic egg resting in each cup. I love it.

A dolly person MUST own a child sized Peter Rabbit tea set! I also have tiny ones for my small dolls.

Don't you like the egg sitting in the mug? I only have one of those eggs with a Beatrix Potter design.

Lots of Peters...waiting for spring and Easter.
I do hope you had a lovely Easter Sunday. We will have another egg hunt on Sunday to make up for my missing the day with the grands. Kids love egg hunts!

Beatrix Potter's Birthday Tea!

Oh my goodness, it has been such a busy week! Gina has been home from Seattle since Sunday, Otto has been celebrating his 3rd birthday for days and it's Beatrix Potter's 150th birthday! Yesterday was the big birthday day! I started planning a little tea for weeks...so fun!

I always like to set the table the night before the tea, whenever possible. I had kept my Peter Rabbit items close at hand after Easter. I don't have a lot of Wedgewood china pieces but it all mixes well with pretty floral and garden patterns of china.

A few soft plush characters decided to join Peter in the decorations.

All set with silver serving pieces, linens and glassware! Let the fun begin....bring on the food1

The food makes the table come alive. I enjoy a buffet style tea as my kitchen is quite small.

I haven't been eating sweets and I did enjoy EVERYTHING today in little bites.

This was my very favorite and fun Peter Rabbit! I found the cute idea on Pinterest. Such a cute way to serve up a veggie plate. I made a yogurt dip to keep it in the healthy department.

I dd make cranberry orange scones for Jimmy. You can't have a tea without scones!

Fresh fruit for all...the perfect time of the year for a sweet little dish of sweets.

I was able to use my garden fresh little tomatoes with the mozzarella and basil skewers.

I love blue cheese! It's supposed to look like a carrot. I served it with rice crackers...yummmy.

I know it's a busy table but it was very fun and enjoyable. I served a black almond tea that was really nice with all the goodies.

Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter! It was fun celebrating with you and Peter.

Tea Time Tuesday #121

Happy Tea Time Tuesday! I hae been waiting for this day to share this most delightful breakfast tea set that I found at an estate sale last Friday. I walked into the sale and saw it on the table and just about squealed! I was afraid to look at the price, but it was $30 and I had some cash in my pocket!
I think it's just so very sweet and I knew I was going to be sharing some Peter Rabbit things this week as it's Beatrix 150th birthday on Thursday. Gina is home again, so I am hoping to do a little tea on Thursday.

Peter was pretty happy with my new purchase too! Fresh roses from the garden to help celebrate.

The breakfast tea set has a sweet teapot, open sugar bowl, creamer, teacup and a little tray.
The colors are just so Peter Rabbit!

The sweet little pink rose sitting on top of the teapot just makes the set perfect.

This is the markings on the bottom of the items. Each piece is marked.

The tea for today is Sleepy Rabbit...from an Oregon Nursery...Nichols Garden Nursery. It's a great place to order seeds and plants. Yummy tea too.

This wonderful book is a treasure. I found it last year in Vermont on our great trip. It is charming. I so would love to visit Beatrix Potter's home. I don't think it's meant to be, but it's fun to see all the photos and dream.

So Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter! Thank you for all the stories about Peter and his friends. They all make me so very happy.

Linking up with Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage but she is taking a break until August as her family is visiting.
Linking up with Ruth at Antiques and Teacups
Bernideen is not longer running her TTCG weekly parties. It is a great deal of work to keep the link up parties goin.

Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter!

Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter! I just couldn't let today go by without a little post to celebrate one of my favorite children's illustrators. I have always loved Peter Rabbit and all of his friends.

I wish I had this talent to make a darling cake! So cute by Sweet Bee Bakery.

I love this photograph of Beatrix when she was a little girl, about 5 years old. And of course, I love the classic photo of Beatrix by her wonderful door! I wish I had an entrance to my home like this.

My mind has been wondering back to May when I was in Vermont and my friend Wilhelmina gave us a Peter Rabbit tea.

Even her dolls had the table set with a tiny tea set...all Peter Rabbit inspired with lots of details. Wilhelmina is such a dolly person and just gets lost in the world of dolls.

These photos are part of her collection, which is quite amazing. She was so kind to share it all with us.

Of course the visitors-Annabelle of Oregon and Annabelle of MT were invited to another tiny tea in the  dining room. Note Wilhelmina's collection of Peter Rabbit books on the shelf.

How fun to have a tea to celebrate this lady's great works. Happy Birthday!
