Tea Time Thursday #96 ~A Birthday for a Friend

Last Friday, I finally was able to take my friend Lynda to tea for her 70th birthday. We have been very good friends for years. I wanted to celebrate her special birthday by going to tea. I took her to Myrtle's Tea House in Washington, only about an half hour from my house. It is my favorite tea shoppe. Elizabeth, the owner, does such a nice job. I love her floral arrangement.

You can see our tea plate and dessert plate in the photo above. Lots of little detail and everything was just delicious. We enjoyed pots of Autumn Cranberry tea.

Linda and Lynda....good friends. Don't you just love to go to tea and have hours to chat and catch up on your families and all! I love that about tea time.

Elizabeth has a lovely gift area in her shoppe. Lots of tempting and seasonal tea time items.

We had such a lovely time  together. it's always special to have tea with a dear friend, especially on her birthday. Happy Tea Time Thursday.

Tea Time Thursday #80

Happy Tea Time Thursday from Oregon. The weather is so perfect here for Oregonians...cool start, a few clouds and then glorious sunshine and temperatures in the high 70's!

Today I am featuring a teacup that I just had to keep! It is a birthday teacup and it is also decorated with  my beloved Forget-Me-Nots! I was thinking of giving this to my friend, but decided to keep it so I can share it with many friends for a birthday tea.

It's quite pretty and named Forget Me Not. It is bone china and made in England by Duchess.

I'm not sure if this is the front or the back but each side is lovely.

Last Saturday I went to tea at Myrtle's Tea House again for Ann's birthday. It is about 45 minutes away but it is my favorite tea shoppe. So many have disappeared and that makes me sad. I do understand how difficult it is to keep a tea shoppe up and runnning....a lot of work. The owner Elizabeth, does such a great job and she keeps expanding her shoppe.

\

We had our tea in the BonBon room this time...a very beautiful room!

I am sorry that my pictures didn't turn out well this time. Here is the only OK photo I got of Ann. Elizabeth came by with a tiny cake for her . She is a sweetheart.

This is our tea time treat plate. Everything was just delicious. The soup was a white cheddar with broccoli and it was heavenly. Sadly, the photo of the dessert plate was a big blur. Happy Birthday Ann and thanks for celebrating with tea.

Tea Time Thursday #38 and Dear Ann's Birthday

Last Saturday, I took my dear friend Ann to Myrtle's Tea House in Ridgefield WA. I missed Ann's retirement tea last month, as I was sick. Unfortunately, Ann's company hasn't let her retire yet! She is such a good worker that her bank is having a difficult time finding a replacement. She did give them a final date...July 11th. I hope it really happens. Ann is such a wonderful person and she has been working so long. It is time for her to have some time to enjoy retirement. Ann has been taking care of her brother who has been fighting cancer and some other heath issues.

I love to go to Myrtles. The owner Elizabeth is very sweet and works hard to make her tea shoppe such a wonderful place for tea lovers to enjoy. She has added this arch with flowers in the front-very nice.

As always, the entrance is filled with lots of goodies for the ladies! The giant teddy in the corner was a gift to her from her son when he was in the service. So sweet.

Ann and I were seated at this little table in the Bon Bon room. I was so excited to see Ann, I never did take pictures of our lovely tea plate! Sometimes that happens when you go to tea.

This is my dear friend Ann on the left. Doesn't she look happy? That's Elizabeth on the right. We all love Elizabeth and have followed her to this location when she lost her lease at her former location. It was quite a blow with little time to come up with a new location, but she did it!

You may remember I lost a friend who was one of our tea buddies....Joan. Ann was so good to spend time with Joan when she was so sick with cancer too, so giving of her time. Ann broke the sad news to Elizabeth with a beautiful arrangement of flowers that Joan would have adored. Oh, yes, very touching. Ann had these two lovely roses for me and for Jim as a thank you for praying for her during the difficult days with Joan. How sweet is that? I was so touched and what a neat way to honor Joan.

I am trying to get back on track with my Tea Time Thursdays. I want to share a very beautiful little demitasse cup and saucer that was given to me by our dear Canadian friends Ed and Yoka. They sent it to me with a note that this belonged to a lovely lady in Holland. Ed and Yoka know I love tea things and they wanted me to have it as I would take care of it. Oh yes, dear friends, I will cherish it forever.
Ed and Yoka are from the Netherlands but now live in Powell River BC. They are the most darling couple and full of life and faith. We used to visit them every year, but it's been a long time now since we have been together. I miss them~a lot!

I found a bit of information about the cup and saucer today. It is French and was made in the 1970's, It's very much like limoges and has a very romantic scene of a lovely couple on the cup and in the center of the saucer. It is a treasure and I am honored to have it. Thank you Ed and Yoka!

I did a few errands this afternoon and stopped by the produce stand to see what was new. Local cherries and blueberries! The Hood strawberries are done...sigh. Can you see the metal teapot and cup and saucer on the little table? Yes, another gift from a friend. My SIL's mom Kathy, or Grandma Kathy as she is called, gave it to me for Christmas.

It was such a nice afternoon when I returned, so I just sat outside and have my treat. I found this book at a thrift store today. I have looked at this book many times in quilt and fabric stores, but it was a bit out of my budget. I was soooo happy to find it at a bargain price. It has some cute small projects to make which is always fun for me.

The clouds are rolling in this evening and we are to get a bit of rain. It's so nice out tonight, with a gentle breeze drifting in and out of my front room. This is what I like about summer. Time for a bit of iced tea! It's also my brother John's birthday...Happy Birthday John.

Tea Time Thursday # 19 ~ Ann's Birthday!

Last Saturday, it was time to head on back up to Myrtle's Tea House to celebrate another friend's birthday! Ann has a summer birthday, so we get to enjoy the tea house when the weather is beautiful.
Our Ann has been working so hard and guess what? I think she's really going to retire soon! It's time Ann. Doesn't she look happy here?

Natalie is our party planner and she started working on Ann's celebration weeks ago. It's just hard to get everyone together...busy, busy, busy!

We dined on the delightful Summer Solstice tea offering. So fun and light and delicious!!! I had the veggie white cheddar soup and oh it was so yummy. Can you see the dragonfly sandwich?

We even had a little butterfly muffin along with fresh seasonal fruit...always a treat with local berries at this time of the year.

Elizabeth is the owner and she brought Ann out a very special little birthday cake. It was just too good! The pink icing was to die for!  Elizabeth is a doll and always makes us feel so welcome. Thank you for all your hard work. It's quite a labor of love to run a tea shoppe.

The we had our dessert plate and I do believe the strawberry was my favorite goodie.

Natalie is next to Ann...she's the party planner. So faithful to make sure we all have birthday parties-tea parties of course! Ginny is Ann's long time friend too.

This is Joan with Ann. Dear Joan has been battling cancer for some time now. She was having a good day and was so happy that she was able to attend. It's so hard for her to get out. We all thought she looked terrific and were so happy to have her at the tea party. Our prayers are with you Joan.

Present time! Lots of lovelies for a lovely person!

I love this picture! Happy Birthday dear friend.  I hope this will be a great year for you and that you can finally retire!

I hope you enjoyed my Tea Time Thursday story this week. I just love to go to tea with friends. It is just wonderful.

I'm busy putting my studio together this week inbetween seeing friends, helping dad and attending a funeral. Ah...the circle of life.

Teacup Thursday #84 and the Birthday Tea

Jim and I were out finishing our Christmas shopping today and we stopped at the Albertina Kerr thrift shoppe. They were having a 1/2 price sale and I just couldn't leave this Christmas teacup there...it cost me $3! It's Japanese, made by Inarco and it looks pretty mid century. I thought it would be perfect for Miss Spenser's Teacup Thursday.

Last Sunday, my dear friends Ann, Natalie and Nancy took me to Myrtles's Tea House for my birthday tea. The tea shoppe just celebrated her first anniversary at her new location. Congrats to you Elizabeth. She was so gracious and treated us all to tea...thank you Elizabeth. We all chatted the afternoon away. Don't you think it's amazing how time just seems to stand still or disappear when you go to tea? I think that's one of the best things about taking tea.

Thank you my friends for the gift of time and the birthday treats. I so enjoyed myself and the afternoon with you.
