Wade Creek House is OPEN!

Jimmy and I went for a drive and found that a favorite little shop was open! We wore our masks, they provided lots of hand sanitizer and we stayed away from people. It was soooo fun to go into a store.

The day was very wet and stormy but stayed dry while we were at the store.

This sweet little building used to be a chicken coop. I missed the chickens, but it's really a cute little booth with garden goodies!

There 's a large building out in the back. There were some cute displays this time. I think there is a new owner who had made some nice changes.

I really liked the little red hutch! Good thing I didn't have any place to put it...lol.

We found some cute things for flower containers. I loved the tea kettle.

I chose some bright yellow and orange flowers as those are the colors I use in the backyard. The front is done in pinks and purples.

Monday...more snow and ice!

I was up early to get to the lab for blood work, the post office for mailing and a bit of shopping today, BUT woke up to a winter weather advisory and snow and sleet! It's supposed to change into freezing rain and then rain later today. So plans are on hold...ugh. I really need to get out.

So I decided to post some pix of an outing Jimmy and I went on a few weeks ago. I never got this post started, so now is a good time. It's funny to see green grass in my photos, as we have had snow covered grass for almost a week now. This is not the norm for Oregon.

This is Wade Creek House out in Estacada OR. It's a darling little house filled with antiques and hand crafted items. It's always a fun trip out to see what's new. They offer a lot of fun classes through out the year and I hope to take some.

Fun Over the Weekend

Wade Creek House is a favorite destination not too far from home. We often take the pretty drive out to Estacada OR about every season to see what the little shop has to offer. They were having an outdoor Vintage show, so we wanted to see what it was like.

Look who was driving this vintage truck! CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK! Jimmy tried to hop a ride.

Wade Creek hads a cute chicken coop and a little garden. I didn't know they had bees! Boy, they were humming away. It's always good to see an active hive!

Fun booths with fun items. It wasn't a huge sale, but it offered a nice variety of goodies with lots to look at and enjoy.

Here's a look at the outside booths. It was a bit overcast, so it wasn't too hot. I really enjoyed the show. Jim found a great Aurora chair for $13. He was actually looking for another one.

Sunday afternoon, we headed up the Columbia River Gorge to the small town of Bingen. It's on the Washington side. We found a great antique mall. Jim is doing a nautical theme for his October show and was delighted to find this anchor.

We love to go to museums and were thrilled to find this little museum in Bingen. It had been a Presbyterian church at one time. The volunteer said his father had helped to build the building.

My favorite display was the country store. Old Jimmy loves to ring the register. The display had two of them!

Of course I'm going to find the sewing machine and quilts. Love this old quilt. I think the star background fabric is quite charming.

A wonderful look into the heart of the home...the kitchen!

We left the museum and were headed home when we came upon a little tasting room for a local winery. It was called White Salmon Vineyard. We enjoyed a delightful man named Doug. He was a friend of the owners and being retire, this was just a fun job for him. I think he was actually paid with bottles of wine. Anyway, he spent so much time with us and we really learned a lot.

At the end of our visit, we were getting hungry. Doug suggested that we try a place called Everybody's and he gave us directions. Oh my goodness...great fun! I had a sweet potato burrito that was so delicious!  We sure had a fun day.

Birthday Fun

Last Saturday, my daughter wanted to take me out to breakfast for an early birthday treat. Chris and her picked Multnomah Falls which is fairly close to your home. We met about 10:30 AM. The day started out foggy but turned out to be a very nice day. The waterfall was just wonderful.

The stone lodge and gift shop is really nice. We always have to make a stop in the gift store. They have a smashed penny machine in there.

The restaurant is upstairs...all warm and cozy with a fireplace.

I love hash and eggs, so here's my yummy breakfast. It was good! The restaurant has used this same china forever.

I walked up a bit so I could take some pictures of the Wirth family. You can see the falls behind them.

We said goodbye and went off to the Open House at the historic Harlow House in Troutdale, our home town. I think the last time we visited the house was when our girls were in grade school!

I went upstairs to take a peek at the bedrooms. The children's room was so cute with toys and dolls.

The master bedroom was very small with lots of vintage items to enjoy.

There was also a sewing room in the corner room.

Our next destination was the Wade Creek House out in Estacada, which is a delightful shoppe with a mix of antiques, collectibles and handmade items. It's always a fun place and we always find a treat to take back home.

O just love how they take everyday items and make simple decorations that look so good.

This is their chicken coop. They only had 4 chickens this time. Love the quilt block on the building. They are going to have a class on how to make them next January.

Not far from the Wade Creek House, we always go past this historic home and have never stopped. They were also having an Open House, so we decided to stop in. It's the Philip Foster House and it was just charming. Some delightful young people were helping to run the place. It was once a major stopping place for those travelers on the Barlow Trail going on to the Willamette Valley after crossing the Oregon Trail.

I loved the inside of the house and don't you love the old quilt on the spool bed?

Jimmy was visiting with the volunteers and Santa while I was snooping around and taking pictures.

I wish I had a pantry....love this one! The kitchen was my favorite part of the house. Can you image all the wonderful meals that were cooked on that woodstove?

There was a big barn and even a small blacksmith's shoppe on the property.

A trip to the store was wonderful. It was really cute inside. I got wrapped up with the clerk and didn't take any pictures. I guess I'll have to return someday.
