Sunday Thoughts on Father's Day

This little plaque sums it all up for my Jimmy. Oh, how he loves his little Otto and thanks God everyday for the gift of a grandchild.  Otto is almost 3 years old now. He stayed over night with us on Friday and he is one funny little boy. What a joy.

The old Italian Papa has been waiting for a ripe tomato and finally had one ready. So Otto and Papa went out to "pick" it and "eat" it.

It was all pretty exciting for the two!

It's been an emotional weekend for us with some family issues going on. Little Otto was the best thing that happened this weekend. Jimmy sings him a song when he puts him down for a nap. Otto didn't want his song when I was getting him ready for bed, but then he jumped up into Papa's arms, hugged him around the neck and wanted his song. It was so very precious! It was the best present a grandpa could ever wish for...what a gift. What a gift from God our Otto is.

Father's Day 2013

Yesterday was Father's Day and what a special day Jimmy had! I decided to fix him a light breakfast treat as we were going to meet the kids for dinner.

I like to use Oregon's Harry and David's scone mix when I'm in a hurry. I do drop type scones and they always turn out wonderful. It's strawberry time in Oregon, so I chose this strawberry mix. Jimmy loves strawberries.

I mixed fresh Hood berries with the local raspberries that are just appearing on the market. They aren't real sweet yet, but still yummy!

We collect sterling strawberry forks and it's just fun to use them. They make you enjoy each berry, one at a time. These are two that I found on my Tasha trip back east about seven years ago.

After a nice breakfast, Jim wanted to go back to the downtown library to view Allen Say's work before the exhibit is taken down this week. It was nice to look at the original art work without a crowd.

Then we had to head to the Wong King Seafood Restaurant to meet the kids for the Father's Day dinner. Angie is looking good. Baby Otto is only about 5 weeks away???? We all picked dates last night for the baby's birth! Funny. Chris was also celebrating his Father's Day! He always makes everything sooo fun! Don't they look cute?

Our other cute couple, Eric and Gina, drove down from  Seattle to join the fun. They were both sick but wanted to come! Thanks you guys for the extra effort!

So what did Miss Ava have for her daddy? Something special that she made! Let's see Ava!!!

She made Chris a great fish picture that said she loved her daddy because he was funny and awesome.

She was so excited! That other tooth is just about to come out!

Of course  Barbie had to come the party! She fit right in the soup bowl. Look out Barbie, you better move.

We just all had so much fun. We had to go to Baskin and Robbins for ice cream after the dinner....soooo full!

It sure was a fun day. Love being a "Clan" after all these years of waiting. I'll be babysitting Miss Ava at her house tomorrow.

Happy Father's Day My Jimmy!

A light breakfast on the Deschutes for my Jimmy earlier this week as we celebrated Father's Day a bit early for him. The weather was warm and perfect and we spent most of our time outside! This is what he asked to do for his special Father's Day gift from me.  My husband is a very giving person who always puts his "girls" first. I have been blessed to be loved and cared for by this man for many years. He has done so many things for me and is always willing to listen and support me in my next adventure. He is a most wonderful father and has been right from the very beginning of their lives.
Gina is down from Seattle to join us on Sunday for a Day With Dad including big sister Angie. I'll have to share the activities of the day later.

Jim spent so many years as a pharmacist in the back of some store. Now that he's retired, he is really enjoying the great outdoors. Can you see how happy this guy is! He took some time to sort his flies out on the deck before he took off for his passion...fly fishing!

You have to have lots of flies for your hobby! Pretty cool, heh? Hope he has enough-LOL!

Let me share some views of the property. We really enjoyed our stay at La Casa.

Even in the desert area of central Oregon you can find some gardening. The bird life is abundant here so close to the river. Lots of song birds to enjoy!

So my Jimmy....Happy Father's Day. I love you and thank you for all your many years of being a loving and giving father and husband. Have some fun and start dreaming about another trip to the river!

Back at the Deschutes for Jimmy

Well, we're not on the Rogue River as this cool poster says, but the Deschutes River! Just here for a few days again and this time it's for my Jimmy. It's an early Father's Day gift as he actually likes to fish a lake up here as well as some evening fishing on the river. The weather was great yesterday-a bit cloudy today.
We're staying at his friend's house on the Deschutes named La Casa. Probably won't be visiting my friends this time so brought reading material and some hand sewing.
The internet connection is really iffy here, so this is a short post before it goes off.

Finally getting around to posting pictures from Jim's Father's Day celebration.

We had quite the day with Angie and Gina spending the day as Jim wished. We went to several estate sales, came back home for Angie's homemade blueberry pie-YUMMY-, back out for a few more sales, Tad's for dinner (yes, LaVonne...chicken livers) and then back home for presents!

You can see us filling up Angie's car and Jimbo finding another sale with his GPS.Gina is the proud owner of some Bakelite kitchen utensils.

I think old Jimmy was pooped from all the fun!
